    Overall, not a bad read...

The pacing of this Steampunk novel about H.G. Wells' inadvertent campaign against the Martians' invasionary forces is good, and while the novel makes the same point about colonialism as the original War of the Worlds, there is also a strong subplot about a zoological approach to contact with an extraterrestrial.
