Meet the Author

Jay Kinney is coauthor of Hidden Wisdom: A Guide to the Western Inner Traditions. For fifteen years, he was publisher and editor-in-chief of Gnosis, the premier journal covering esoteric traditions and spiritual paths. In addition, Kinney is a member of Mill Valley Lodge #356 and Mission Lodge #169, F&AM, in California; a member of the York Rite; and a 32° KCCH in the Scottish Rite. He has twice been a speaker at the California Masonic Symposium, and is a recipient of the Albert G. Mackey Award for Excellence in Masonic Research. He has extensive contacts within Freemasonry and, as librarian and director of research for the San Francisco Scottish Rite, has access to many resources and Masonic records that have eluded most popular writers on this topic.

    Interesting information on the Masons

    I bought this book and enjoyed all the detail, documented information and photos. It helped me learn more about how the masonic order and the masons developed versus the imagine portrayed by fiction and individual making assumptions. It's a good read if you're interested in the history of the masons.

    We've all heard about secret societies and their rituals. THE MASONIC MYTH takes you on a journey that allows you to understand the Freemasons. Find out the reasons behind certain symbols and rituals that have been concealed for hundreds of years.

    I'm always up for a good conspiracy theory or secret society book, so when I was given the option to review this book, I just had to get my hands on it. I was not disappointed! This book opened my eyes wider than I thought possible.

    Excellent description and explanation of Masonry

    Kinney's writing is clear, descriptive and factual. There are good drawings of the topics described and I learned what I wanted to know about Masonry. Finally, it's clear.

    Excellent intro to Masonic lore

    Thorough, informative writing explaining the history & mythology surrounding the much misunderstood & maligned Masonic brotherhood.At times the names of central figures and organizations were somewhat confusing for me to keep strraight, but in all accounts the book is entertaining and factual for those interested in understanding "the Craft."
