For
The Master Plan, her sophomore album release, faith-based singer
Tamela Mann sets her busy acting career aside for a bit to bring her powerful voice to bear on a set of gospel songs, most of which are given a distinctly urban and R&B veneer. Produced by
Myron Butler and
Terrell Carter,
The Master Plan features an inventive vocal arrangement of "The Lord's Prayer" as well as four songs co-written by
Mann,
"I Trust in You," "Here I Am," "Anything for You," and
"In Him," making this set a logical successor to her debut album. She may be all over television these days, most notably appearing with her husband,
David Mann, on
Tyler Perry's TBS series Meet the Browns, but
Mann got her start performing because of her dramatic and powerful soprano singing voice, and she serves notice here that she still knows what to do with it. ~ Steve Leggett
