Overview

For fans of alternative hard rock, Evans Blue will fit comfortably in personal CD towers already filled with bands like Breaking Benjamin and Taproot -- well, assuming the album wasn't burned from a friend or digitally downloaded. Their slick debut, The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume, makes use of lead singer Matisyn's passionate vocals and slightly vague lyrics layered over intense and smooth rhythms. The album is nothing that hasn't already been heard numerous times before, but even if slightly generic, Evans Blue are at least competent. Their first radio single, the brooding "Cold (But I'm Still Here)," is the perfect lead track to hook their audience -- and seeing as the album is a joint release between Pocket (co-owned by ex-Our Lady Peace's Mike Turner) and Hollywood, the song will no doubt be gracing many a modern rock play list soon enough. Along the same lines, with its powerful and soaring chorus, it's hard to deny the catchiness of "Beg," making the song prime to be their follow-up hit. The rest of the album is a lot more of the same, aside from the band throwing in a somewhat random, but enjoyable, rock cover of fellow Canadian Sarah McLachlan's hit "Possession." On the whole, though, the band seems to take itself rather seriously -- check out the explanation of the wordy album title in the back of the booklet and try not saying, "Um, what?" Nevertheless, their debut is proficient enough that mainstream rock will surely welcome Evans Blue into their ranks with open arms; only time will tell, however, if they stay there.

The 1st album by the sensasion candian band Evans Blue was a huge success. After their hit single "Cold but im still here". Many people anticiapted this amazing band with much excitment . As is myself i think of them as a form of Tool and taproot I was amazed to hear to this new album and i think it is only a taste of things to come from them .

Evans Blue is a great new band to hit the shelves. Ever since their first single Cold (But I'm Still Here) came out I have been listening to the song and waiting for the CD. When I got the CD I found that all the songs were as good as their single, unlike most other one-hit-wonder bands. Evans Blue will probably be huge very soon. It is hard to describe Evans Blue because they're so unique. The vocals are similar to Chevelle, but I don't think the music is related at all. The music is more like A Perfect Circle. I would definitely suggest this to anyone hat stumbled upon this page (especially for $8.99!), especially A Perfect Circle fans.

First off this band is awesome and they did a great job on the album. Every song is unique and there isn't a song that you are going to want to skip. Its a different kind of sound from this band and everyone should own this album. I have two copies and just cant stop listening so do yourself a favor and buy this record.

This is an exceptional first album. Many bands these days are confined to one sound and sort of 'industry standard' production. Evans Blue does not break out too far beyond current standards in terms of original sound, but there is definitely something for everyone on this album. I liked it so much I also bought the cd for a friend's birthday!

Later I checked the other songs, I have no words to describe them, they sound different than others, their lyrics are amazing, evans the vocals and the sounds are unique... Evans Blue has put out their debut album consisting of not only excellent lyrics describing true love and the pain we go through when it leaves us, but excellent backup music to help us feel the rage, but be ok with it at the same time. The music is of superb quality along with a great attitude of the band. It cant get any better than this!

I bought 'The Melody and the Energetic Nature of Volume' when it came out, I popped it in my cd played and i loved it! I listen to it everyday! It has everything I could want in a cd frmo this type of music. It has the heavy double-bass pedal (one track only), it has two memorable songs, "Cold" and "Beg." The whole cd ranges from heavy to soft music, its a really good cd. I recommend it for fans of 10 Years and Three Days Grace. You'll be sure to love it.

I kept hearing Cold on the radio, but they would never say who it was by. Finally i figured it out and i got the cd. It is even better than i thought. I expected it to be like most cds where there is one maybe two good songs. Every song on this albulm is awesome, so if you've heard cold and loved it like I did you DEFINETLY need to go out and get this albulm!

I first heard Evans Blue on satellite radio, and absolutely feel in LOVE with Cold (But I'm Still Here)...Not only is their style and sound amazing and set apart from all of the "typical" rock bands, but their lyrics are also unique yet extremely catchy. I was so excited to see their CD in stores, especially since my local radio stations haven't started playing them (yet!!!)...I had added their first single to my MySpace page, but now I get to hear more and whenever I want! The CD has literally NOT left my player, and I'm constantly asking people I know if they've heard Evans Blue. I HIGHLY recommend this CD!
