The Mercenary's Claimby Chula Stone
- LendMe LendMe™ Learn More
Languishing behind the walls of her father's castle, Kirsten would have gladly given anything she possessed to defeat their enemies and break the siege... anything except what was ultimately required of her. In desperation and with no other option, her lord father had summoned the fearsome mercenary Gustav Jager and sought to buy his sword with lands and a title, but Gustav had demanded more... much more. He would come to their aid, but only in return for Kirsten's hand in marriage.
Led from the victory feast as his bride and his prize, Kirsten finds that Gustav has awakened something in her which she did not expect, and to her surprise she does not find her duties to her new husband in the least bit unpleasant. Soon, though, she learns that her body belongs to him in more ways than one, and that he is more than willing to bare her bottom and spank her soundly when her behavior warrants it.
In spite of Gustav's firm chastisement and his unsophisticated manner, Kirsten cannot help but start to fall in love as he works hard to build a better life for her and for the small band of loyal friends who serve them, and when an old enemy returns to plague her family once more, Kirsten must put aside the spoiled girl she once was and act with the courage befitting the wife of a knight.

Slow paced but I didn't feel like I got to know any of the characters .
Excellent, it seams that I always like a Chula Stone book and I always want more of the story with the same characters. This story is no exception. One of the few writers whose secondary characters are just as interesting as the primary. The stories are always new, refreshing, interesting, and romantic.
This was a great story! The characters were strong and there is some depth to the plot which I really appreciate. Gustav is a well known mercenary with an army at his disposal and Kirsten's father is a nobleman in need of an army to defeat a threat to his lands. Gustav asks for Kirsten as a wife as payment for his services because he has a desire to become a Nobleman. Not the most romantic start of a marriage but the sparks start to fly. Great chemistry between them, romance and love grows but there is still some danger lurking. I so wish this book was longer, as is my personal preference, because I really didn't want it to end.
