Another review complained about the inability to search for certain passages in this version. It is important to understand that this is not a 'study bible', but something much different. This version is told in very contemporary language, and is excellent for those who might be intimidated to even crack open a bible for fear of being overwhelmed by older and often confusing language. It's also excellent for those who have studied extensively, because you can sit back and let the beauty of God's words wash over you, and rediscover the Man who has captured your heart.

unlike most bibles I've used on my Nook, there is no eay way to navigate to individual verses that I can find. The only internal bookmarks appear to be to the top of chapters. There should at least be a way to go to a chapter and then to a verse. If there is and I've just not been smart enough to find it, then I appologize. If you plan to read this Bible more like a book, then this will work fine. Otherwise you might want to wait for this to be fixed.

I looked forward to reading this but, as other reviewers mentioned, you cannot skip to different chapters to look something up... Also, on some pages the bottom one or two lines did not show. May not be a big deal, but was frustrating, especially if it was a quote. So I deleted it from my Nook and will keep searching for a bible nookbook that is easier to read, as you would the bible, and has nothing missing.

This book does not allow for you to skip chapters. You must read from the begining to the end of a book or you must page thru to get to the chapter you want.

Just got my Tablet and immediately bought this version of The Message. I personally find this easier to navigate than the book form which I also have. From the table of contents on page 7 you can quickly access any chapter by touching the chapter. Touch the bottom of the screen to access the toolbar, make the font very small and then quickly page through the chapter until you find the desired verse...the touch screen renders that process much faster than thumbing pages of the book. Then switch the font back to your usual reading size. There is also a scroll feature on the toolbar that allows you to quickly scroll to the general area you seek as well as a page finder at the lower right corner. Just remember the number 7 for the table of contents...an easy task as the number 7 is so biblical...and you can quickly access any chapter you wish. I am sure there are other nifty tools but I am not much of a techie and I just got my Tablet so haven't spent much time playing. Hope this helps those of you who find this Message tough to navigate. Yes, a scripture locator would be lovely but, as another poster mentioned, this is a reading Bible as opposed to a study Bible or an accurate translation. Linger with ease and joy in the beauty of Eugene Peterson's God-given gift to us!

This version breathes new life into a very old story. There are some formating issues that can be overcome by adjusting font size and margins.

This needs access by chapter & verse. You can't look up a reference.

The only disappointment is on my part; I thought I was ordering both old and new testaments.

I love this book in it's hard cover and wanted to carry with me all the time. Thought the NOOK edition would work. WRONG WRONG WRONG. The type messes up no matter how many adjustments I make, highlighting and note features are always messing up, can't get to the pages I want, kicks me completely out of the book, won't even let me go to Proverbs, and the list goes on.
Save your money and your time and frustration and just buy the hard cover edition.
