Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Carlee Hallman
This cunning souvenir of the Museum showcases thirteen of the galleries with fragile pop up paper cut outs and short text. The accordion pleated booklet stretches to five feet with scenes on the front and back. It comes in a dust jacket. The first half introduces the Museum along with six scenes. Then one turns the book over and finds the scenes listed by number with the numbers placed on two maps to show the scene's location. The Arms and Armor Court shows two men in armor on horses with lances raised. "The department of Arms and Armor is one of the most comprehensive collections of its kind." The Astor Court is modeled on a Ming-dynasty scholar's courtyard. This Museum, founded in 1870, is one of the largest art museums in the world. This pocket guide is a nice memento of the Museum.
