The Middle Eastern Influence on Late Medieval Italian Dances: Origins of the 29987 Istampittasby Michele Temple
Though Temple's writing is in need of polish, this volume nonetheless is an important addition to the field of medieval music, as it transcribes the music preserved in a late 14th-century manuscript now in the British Library. The music of late medieval Italian music and dance are described, with a consideration of Arabic music as a key influence. Temple relied on secondary sources for the historical background to this analysis, which was her master's thesis toward a degree in musicology from Cleveland State U.
