Editorial Reviews

L.S. Cousins
...Bhikkhu Bodhi has made the text much more readable and approachable for the novice reader. He is on the whole a much clearer writer than Ñaa.namoli and has tended to remove slight archaisms and awkwardnesses....Contrary to Bhikkhu BodhiI believe...what is needed is much more creativity and variety among translators so as to facilitate the discovery of better ways of expressing the ideas of early Buddhism. —Journal of Buddhist Ethics

Sublime teachings from the Blessed Lord

A beautiful book. Highly recommended for anyone who wishes to experience the teachings of the Buddha. This should be of interest to all who wish to practice Buddhism, especially for those who are interested in Theravada Buddhism. Wisdom Publications, alongside the Venerable Bhikkhu Bodhi, are owed deep thanks from us all for providing this volume along with the others in the series.
