Overview

On Sale for a Limited Time!

What would you do if someone told you that your past and everything you believed was a lie?

Cameron Winters is a freak, a mind reader who can hear the thoughts of those around her. Although her life has been far from ideal, she has finally found peace on a Caribbean island far away from her troubles. But her troubles are about to find her in the form of a gorgeous government agent named Maddox.

Maddox claims Cameron’s father sent him to protect her from encroaching enemies. There’s only one problem…Cameron’s father has been dead for over a decade. When men arrive, threatening Cameron’s very life, she has no choice but to trust Maddox and escape to the United States. Shockingly, Cameron realizes Maddox has been telling the truth all along when she’s introduced to her father, a man she barely remembers. Suddenly, Cameron has everything she has always wanted…a family and home. But as her powers are exploited by the very people she trusts, Cameron realizes the old adage is only too true…be careful what you wish for.

Best for ages 14 and over. Contains kissing and cursing. This book is over 80,000 words; the typical YA is 60,000-90,000.

I loved it just as much as the first

This book is as action packed and full of twist much like the fist book. As soon as you start the book you are thrown into Cam's life and you feel every emotion she feels. The only thing i didnt like was how short it was in comparrison to the first book. But i am still eagerlly awaiting the release of the third and final (i think) book. Definately a great read

    Mermaids rock!

This is the first mermaid story I have read and I am glad to say I was not disapointed. The typical image of lobable, kind, and beautiful creatures called mermaids is slightly differant from the image the author produces in this novel. The mermaids are beautiful maidens who are sinister, unhappy, and evil creatures. The mermaids are searching, but what are they searching for, and why?

    Nice read.

Nice read, after a while it got on my nerves, Cam's character is all over the map. I decided to finish the series because i had already bought it. Good story and characters, but needs some work.

I wanted to enjoy this series really bad. It had so much potential and the whole idea of the mind readers seemed like such an interesting concept to me. I especially liked how the author blurred the line between the good and bad sides to the point where it became unclear which was which. In the real world, that kind of thing can be very hard to tell, especially if you're thrown into the middle of a conflict where both sides are trying to convince you they're the 'right' ones, all while your still trying to get your memory back. So keeping all that in mind (no pun intended), its understandable how the main character Camren (sorry if I spelled her name wrong) was frusterated and confused all the time. Unfortunatly though, those were the only aspects of this book that were portrayed realistically. The rest of Camren's personality was annoying and astoundingly immature for an 18 year old. She kept on complaining about how people were "treating her like a child" and that she "wasn't a toddler anymore", yet she couldn't calm done for one minute and attempt to think her problems through like a mature adult. And admist all the turmoil around her, the main issue that was going on in her shallow little mind was how she felt about her (former) boyfriend Lewis, even though she knew full well that he betrayed her, used her, and manipulated her to get her to love him (Seriously. Give him UP Camren). She also kept bringing the topic of Lewis up with Maddox at the worst possible moments, and I practically winced in embaressment at the awkwardness of it all. Dating and boyfriends should be the LAST thing she should be concerned about in her situation. Camren also refused to do what she was told ALL the time, which really got on my nerves. She would insist on getting explainations at unoppertune times, (like when she was being shot at for example), when she should really just shut up and take Maddox's advice and do what she was told. Of course that would mean she would have to start being mature and reasonable. She couldn't possibly do THAT. No, instead Camren the Genius ignored the experienced and wise people trying to help her, and choose to take matters into her own hands, resulting in her continously screwing things up. Royally. It got really irritating after a while. Her inability to see that Lewis was a complete jerk while Maddox was actually helpful and truely liked her bothered me to. In the end I just had to put the stupid book down and be done with it. It was just too painful to finish.
