Take a sore back: By resting your aching back on grapefruit-sized balls and letting your body sink into them, you're unworking the muscles that hurt. Pain and tension drain out of the body. Petrone shows how proper breathing (which she demonstrates) works in conjunction with a range of unexercises that call for placing the balls under the back, head, knees, hip, elbow--wherever there's pain--and then resting, rolling, or rotating on them. She points out that relief can come in surprising ways: Lower back pain may be helped by placing the ball under your neck, or a bad knee might be helped by hip work. Meet the Author

Elaine Petrone developed her Miracle Ball method out of her own experiences with chronic pain. In addition to her books, she’s written for and been featured in Fitness, Vogue, Woman’s Day, Glamour, Redbook, Self, Elle, Town & Country, and Harper’s Bazaar.  She has consulted Fortune 500 companies in stress and pain management as well as appeared on nationally syndicated television shows for Fox News, Lifetime, NBC and ABC news.  With over 30 years of experience, Elaine teaches regularly at Stamford Hospital in Connecticut, and trains students at hospitals and healing centers across the country. The Miracle Ball Method: Relieve Your Pain, Reshape Your Body, Reduce Your Stress [2 Miracle Balls Included] is a method of pain relief developed by Elaine Petrone after struggling with her own terrible back pain. The key for her, and no doubt many, proved to be proper breathing and decreased muscle tension. Soooo...

The Goal: reduce muscle tension that's causing the pain
The Formula: Weight + Breathing = Release of Tension
How Accomplished: Lay on one or more of the balls in a specified spot
(although the book encourages you to experiment),
breathe properly, and relax. The ball is just a tool to
help you feel the weight of your body.

Don't be turned off by the fact that the book is over 200 pages long- after a brief introduction and a short section on breathing, the vast majority of the book is made up of pictures showing you exactly how to do the exercises. Additionally, its a tiny book and therefore has short paragraphs on each page.

I would have to say that this book will likely benefit many people with chronic pain. Muscle tension is either the major cause of a lot of pain, or at least present due to another cause. Either way, treating muscle tension and learning how to relax will take a big bite out of your pain. Readers with foot pain may also be interested in The 5-Minute Plantar Fasciitis Solution. Two small, cushy balls accompany a paperback exercise book that is meant to relieve pain, tone your body and improve posture. The manual begins with simple breathing exercises to help the individual relieve stress. Once the individual¿s breathing is regulated it is time to move on to the exercises, and the fun-part¿the balls. The exercise techniques presented in this manual are simple and straight forward, however constructive. This is a system to help you relieve stress, tension and pain from head-to-toe. I would recommend The Miracle Ball Method.

I have an inversion table, and a back arch to lay on on the ground or in bed. These balls do a much better job of relaxing muscles and subsequently straightening the spine. I injured my lower back bending over doing Tae Bo stretching, and these exercises opened up the area. So if you've had a back problem and want to release the strain that is at the very minimum maintaining the distortion, you might want to give these a try.

I always had my hips mal-aligned where I felt one leg longer than the other. With one use, it totally aligned my hips and I felt like I had just stepped out of my chiropractor's office.

I have arthritus in my spine and these little balls help a lot on days when I am not moving so great, they are also great on the back of my neck when I have a headache. I can take them with me if I travel, I have even got my mom, my husband, brother and kids hooked on them!

I am a fitness instructor and after trying the Miracle Balls with the included instruction book began incorporating them into a weekly stretch and tone class. All of the participants found the Miracle Bells helpful in relieving back and neck strain and promoting relaxation. Many of my students have subsequently purchased the Miracle Ball Method for their home use as well

I have quite a bit of trouble with muscle stiffness and spasms in my neck due to Multiple Sclerosis. At times, this causes terrible headaches in addition to the general discomfort. I was intrigued by The Miracle Ball because I have used the larger exercise balls in the past with great results in my core muscles, but the larger balls don't do a lot for the specific areas in the neck and head. I was not disappointed. The Miracle Ball Method has been great for alleviating the pain in my neck. As soon as I feel a twinge coming on, I grab the ball and do the neck exercises in the manual. It helps to relax the muscles and the pain goes away much faster. The Miracle Ball Method has been a great help. I recommend this product highly.

This system is a wonderful and easy way to relax and stretch the spine -- it simulates some of the massage/chiropractic adjustment work that alleviates tension and pain and can be used just about anywhere. I highly recommend the miracle balls!

I chose this book and the balls that come with it, when I was in severe back pain. I had nothing to lose by trying it. It helped me start to feel better and I taught my daughter how to use them. She also has some back problems. Now I can't get them back from her. I will be buying another kit to keep here for myself. I tell my friends and even some of my patients with back pain about this book/ball kit. I highly recommend it!

I was on a cane, had permanent disability placard, and scheduled for a neurosurgeon when I found these. I couldn't walk more than a few yards without stretching against my cane. Two days after starting to use the balls I was about 60% improved and within a month I stopped carrying a cane. I've moved twice, driven 2800 miles in 3 1/2 days, ridden a bicycle 150 miles on a weekend since then. Truly a miracle.

This was the second set I bought. The first set my husband loved, so I bought another set for my son. The Balls were flat/less inflated. I wrote to Elaine Petrone to see if that was a newer version and got no response...

Easy to use to relieve pains from knot and spasms even without the instructions. The book helps to increase the effectiveness of the ball.

I am a Licensed & Nationally Board Certified Massage Therapist.  I first started using this as a means to ground myself in school when given an assignment. I came to find it cured my back problems which were severely chronic.  After 2 years of now using them- my cousin who is a Physical Therapist observed after examining me that it had realigned my hips, which had a major hand in my back relief. Now I just do maitenence, using them once in awhile instead of everyday, but I can tell you the more you use then the better you are in every way possible! Now I am recommending them for practically all my clients, and they also report to me dramatic results and improvements. It makes me happy so see the changes in their life that massage and these 2 little balls have brought them! These balls truely are Miracle Balls!!!!!
