Overview

Maggie Phillips hasn’t had it easy. As the wife of retired Navy SEAL, and the adoptive mother of two little hellions, Maggie is constantly looking for ways to improve her family’s financial situation. She accepts a cleaning position for her new neighbors (who redefine the term ‘eccentric’), never imagining she will end up as the sole alibi for a man with a fascination for medieval torture devices when he is brought up on murder charges.

While Maggie struggles to prove the man’s innocence, her deadbeat brother arrives, determined to sell Maggie and Neil on his next great scheme and to mooch with a vengeance. If that isn’t bad enough, her in-laws, (the cut-throat corporate attorneys) descend on the house, armed with disapproval and condemnation, for the family’s annual Thanksgiving celebration.

As the police investigation intensifies, Maggie searches for the killer among the upper echelon of Hudson, Massachusetts in the only way she can— by scrubbing their thrones.

Of the porcelain variety, that is…

A really enjoyable read—laugh out loud funny—one that I’m glad to have had the privilege to review. I look forward to more of Ms. Hart’s work. Excellent!

This is SUCH a fun book!! I LOVED the relationship between the family members and the way the husband and wife interact. We REALLY need another one in this series! I need to know more about this family..their past and just WHAT the "Laundry Hag" will get into next! I truly laughed out loud several times with this book!!!

Loved this book. Her husband is a retired Navy Seal, who is built like a Greek god and is great looking. She is your not so Greek god woman he loves and respects her quirky ways. This is a fun mystery respecting a woman who wants nothing more than to care for her family.

I have not slept....was just going to read a little but I read the whole thing. I adored this book. I figured it would be a book where she had kids and a hubby but they would never be mentioned....but they were in the book! It was super funny. I loved the way Neil was with her, it reminded me of my husband and how he is. Cant wait to read more.

There's humor and then there is just foolishness. This protagonist is a door mat and immature. Another Evanovich wannabe (and even Evanovich is tiresome after a few books) Lots of loose ends dangling. Won't read another one.

I really did enjoy this book. It was funny and relaxing. Now I am upset because I can't find the other books in this series....Want to read the others...

This was not my typical read, but it was a freebie, and turned out to be such a fun read.

Bored housewife married to retired SEAL becomes a house cleaner. Only an OK read, a little foolish and simple. The husband is a retired Navy SEAL.... on every other page and multiple times per page....... the author points it out, to an irritating level of distraction. It's nice she is proud of his sercice, and I respect that, but the multiple references in what is supposed to be a cozy mystery became annoyingly frequent and very much took away from the flow of the story. I began to count the number of times the word SEAL appeared. Minor sexual references, no gore, some swearing. Did I mention the husband is a retired SEAL? He was a SEAL.....retired......SEAL

It was an ok read. Characters were good, good humor, and quite surprised at the who done it, but I think, for me, there was too much more written into this book that wasn't necessary for the storyline. I found I'd read a couple of pages, put it down, read a couple of pages and put it down, but I was curious as to the outcome, so I kept picking it back up.

The main character is unrelateable and completely clueless.

Maybe it's just me, but I just couldn't get into this and so did not finish it.

At last, a well written, entertaining book with out a bunch of gratuitous sex and unnecessary profanity! The characters are well developed and humorous. Recommend to anyone who wants some light entertainment and appreciates proper grammar, spelling amd punctuation.

Unrealistic. Waste of reading time.

This was probably the dumbest story i have read in a long time. Totally unbelievable. Would not recommend at all.

While I cannot say this was the best book I have ever read, it was funny and made me chuckle. Fairly clean but with some four letter words, at least not with the Federal word. A little slow at times, but funny.

The writing style and story has so much promise, but it just falls short on the delivery.

In a span of 6 months read this twice and although parts seemed similar was still surprised at the ending..enthralled at how a simple act of house cleaning could be such an adventure

This is a humorous and slightly sexy little mystery, a mite contrived but on the whole, fun reading.

Nice tale well crafted with interesting characters. More character driven than plot driven and a good quick read. A snoop with a SEAL husband backup and a lot of women's POV writing makes this interesting. The only fault was having the lead character cleaning houses for side income. This started the story in motion and showed motivation for the lead character, but there was probably a better way to get her there. She follows the clues and gets to the ending in a humorous way and I look forward to other books by her.

Similar to Janet Evonivich Stephanie Plum books. Characters were fun, story a bit much. A good escape.
