Overview

The Mission to Find Max (Book 14) Jack joined the Global Protection Force for two reasons: to thwart evil around the world and to rescue his brother, Max, who went missing while working as a GPF agent. The GPF refused to share any details with Jack about Max’s whereabouts, but on two previous missions, Jack had collected clues that pointed to Max is being in Egypt. Now Jack has reason to believe that King Tut’s diadem—a crown thought to have magical powers—is the cause of Max’s disappearance. The crown was so important that King Tut was buried with it on his head, but when the boy-pharaoh’s tomb was opened in 1922, an assistant archaeologist named Omar Massri stole the artifact. Could a descendant of Massri somehow be involved in Max’s disappearance? Jack and his old friend Kate must prevent an ancient and terrible curse of the pharaohs from wreaking havoc, or else Egypt—and Jack’s brother—could be doomed.

VOYA (Voice of Youth Advocates), February 2012
“Each book in the series is a quick read with plenty of action and, most importantly, lots of information about history…Nonetheless, the educational purpose of the books does not take too much away from Jack’s adventures…Best of all, throughout the series, the young characters come out on top, which is always fun to read.”

VOYA - Dr. Jennifer M. Miskec
The adventure novel series that has taken nine-year-old secret agent Jack Stalwart around the world is drawing to a close. Books thirteen and fourteen, the final two in the series, take Jack to Nepal on a search for a Yeti skull, and then to Egypt to find King Tut's diadem. While in Egypt Jack also resolves the series' overarching quest: to find Jack's brother and fellow secret agent, eleven-year-old Max. As in the rest of the series, the final two books begin with sixteen pages of paratextual information from common phrases, facts about and maps of the region in which Jack's adventure is set to background information about the force in which Jack is a secret agent, his family members, and the gadgets he uses to succeed in his missions. The series concludes with Max back at home, and Jack taking a break from being a secret agent. Each book in the series is a quick read with plenty of action and, most importantly, lots of information about history and activities, like ancient Egypt or rock climbing, as well as basic facts about the various settings in which Jack finds himself. Nonetheless, the educational purpose of the books does not take too much away from Jack's adventures. Clearly directed at a young male audience, the series does have some strong female characters, though their talents and strength always seem to surprise Jack. Best of all, throughout the series, the young characters come out on top, which is always fun to read. (Secret Agent Jack Stalwart) Reviewer: Dr. Jennifer M. Miskec

My Review: If your children loved reading Nancy Drew or the Hardy Boys books then they will love Secret Agent Jack Stalwart Series. Each book is action packed and educational with geographical knowledge. The first few pages gives information related to Jack’s assigment with a map showing each destination of the country where Jack will visit, a Global Protection Force file on Jack, descriptions of the secret agent gadget instruction manual and his family profile. Jack travels to a new country to fight evil villains and protect the world’s most precious people, places and possessions. Each book tells of Jack’s adventures and how Jack’s brother used to work for the agency but throughout the series is missing in action. And in each book Jack pick up cues to help him find his brother Max. And in the final book in the series, while renewing a search for his brother, Jack meets up with an agent and discovers King Tut’s diamond which might be the clue to finding his brother. Was Jack able to find his brother Max and bring him home? Read all about it in The Mission to Find Max.
