Overview

THE MISUNDERSTOOD GOD tells the truth about who the Creator is. This book analyzes what religion says about God's heart and personality and measures it up to what God calls Himself: Love. It simplifies a generation's tangled perceptions of God by taking a journey through the sixteen aspects of love described in one of the most well-known Bible passages in the world: 1 Corinthians 13, also known as "the love chapter." So many Christians have been bombarded with confusing teachings and doctrines that their understanding of God resembles a tightly tangled ball of Christmas tree lights. This book takes that twisted mess and replaces it with one soft, warm light of truth that anyone can embrace: God is love.

I was given the privilege of reviewing the book by Darin Hufford, "The Misunderstood God". To be honest with you I knew by the title that this would be one of those books that I would not only enjoy but find myself agreeing with. It did not disappoint. He starts out at the beginning of the book describing the God presented to him in church growing up. He says, "The God they told me about was not someone I would want to be friends with." He then begins to paint a portrait of the God of Love. Each chapter takes a facet of love described in I Corinthians 13 and reveals how it is displayed in the heart of the One who is Love.. Darin exposes how the heart of God has been not only misinterpreted but misunderstood. The God many of us have known is not the God of I Corinthians 13: Darin brings home the revelation of the effects of love. He says, "We spend more time trying to perform the effects of love than we do loving." Many of us have been confused by God's true nature. Darin has taken the mess that religion has made and exposed a clear, beautiful revelation that God is love itself. I loved reading this book and highly recommend it. If you desire a greater revelation into knowing what true love looks like, pick up Darin's book. You won't be disappointed.

If you have heard God is love and have more questions than peace, this book is for you! This book helped me unlearn the misconceptions about love and be able to embrace the true love of Christ. My own experience with Love was deepend by reading this book. Though scripture is not directly referenced, the heart of scripture breathes life through Darin and his experiences to touch the heart of the reader.

By the time you get to the end of this book you will have your mind blown! We have all been taught 1 Cor. 13 (the Love chapter) in a way that says we should "act" this way. But this book shows that God IS Love. So He isn't a big meanie in the sky waiting to zap you for any and all indiscretion. God is patient, God is kind....etc. It cleared up so much for me in the way I thought of God and Thought of myself. I had a very skewed idea of God. My earthly experience with the fathers in my life further skewed that view. This book will transform the way you think of God. You will find yourself saying over and over again "deep down I knew this". It answers questions you were always afraid to ask! I highly recommend this book!!

This book has helped me realize what was in my heart all along. God is love above all things. My realtionship with Him has grown much stronger with this truth. I could never live up to performing well enough to earn His love. It is given freely to those that ask for truth.

Darin Hufford has in my opinion hit a home run with this book. A rewrite of "The God's Honest Truth," one of his previous books, "The Misunderstood God" is half the size of the original and has been updated with new material. Filled with examples taken from the author's own life, it's simple to read and yet very profound. Darin is an amazing storyteller and his stories add depth to his description of God's character. We've been told that God is love, yet religion has painted a picture of a god that is the complete opposite of love. As Darin explains, our understanding of love is so upside down that we've actually given Him the personality and characteristics of the devil. Using 1 Corinthians 13 as its foundation, "The Misunderstood God" turns the meaning of love right side up and paints a picture of God that is beautiful and very appealing. I was originally introduced to Darin's ministry when I read "The God's Honest Truth" several years ago. I was immediately captivated and my life hasn't been the same since. Although I immediately fell in love with the original, this new edition is just as good. I highly recommend "The Misunderstood God" and I suggest reading it with an open heart and mind. If you let it, it'll blow apart the lies you've been told about God and, like me, I believe you'll never again settle for manmade traditions. Instead, you'll want to know this wonderful God who really is love.

This book is nothing but heretical rubbish with a little bit of flesh pleasing sweetener mixed. This book will open the gateway to heresy in your life. Avoid this book and anything written or spoken by Darin Hufford at all costs.
