The Mourning Trail
Book 2 of the "The VIKINGS! Trilogy"
Mourning the loss of one companion, the survivors of the war find themselves hunted outlaws. After weeks of hiding in a swamp, they emerge to flee as quickly as they can, only to learn that the horrible doom of their lost companion may still be averted. Loyal to their friend, the companions embark on a quest to rescue a lost soul. Sadly, they must backtrack their path that they took riding across Northumbria while being chased by the Norse army of King Svenson Two-Sword. With regret, they face the bitter consequences of their earlier choices. Ruined villages and farmlands, bereft of life, haunt their guilty consciences as they recross the swath of destruction that they caused. Then a horrible curse, another regret of their pre-war experiences, strikes the company, and they are forced to accept an impossible quest: to follow a snotty Druid Seer on his search for a mystical, hidden portal, pass through it, and invade the lands of the Norse Gods ... or two of their company will be doomed forever.

About the Author

When not writing, Jay Palmer is often seen waltzing or doing the hustle upon dance floors all around Seattle. Born extreme ADHD at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, Hawaii, Jay grew up on military base, moving to a new city every two years. Jay Palmer has always sought the novel and the obscure, and joined numerous fringe groups as a teenager, including Wicca in 1972, the Markland Medieval Mercenary Militia in 1974, Puget Sound Star Trekkers and the Society for Creative Anachronism in 1979 (where he fought his way to become a knight, herald, seneschal, and autocrat), and working ConCom for Norwescons 2-6. Today Jay Palmer rides a Kawasaki Vulcan and leads a quiet life working as a Technical Writer for major software firms, including Microsoft, Attachmate, and the Walt Disney Internet Group. Jay is always looking for the next party, interesting people to meet, and new places to dance.
