Children's Literature - Denise Daley
This engaging and interactive story is part of the "We Both Read" series. The book begins with a letter to parents that provides tips for reading the book with children. One suggestion is to use your finger to point to the words as you read them. Other advice tells how parents can help their child decipher words. The story is told entirely in rhyme. It tells of a family dealing with a mouse that causes all sorts of trouble. The family tries to get rid of the little mouse but the mouse misses its' home and keeps trying to return. The illustrations are cute and they support the text. Parents are advised to take turns when reading this book with their child. First the adult reads the smaller more detailed text on the left side of the page and then their child reads the larger easier text on the right side of the page. This unique and innovative format will surely appeal to both parents and children alike. Reviewer: Denise Daley
