Overview

The women's fiction debut of USA-Today bestselling author Edie Claire!

Once upon a hot, lazy summer at Indian Lake, Pennsylvania, two giggling twelve-year-old girls swore to stay best friends forever.
But some promises are hard to keep...

When hospital social worker Teagan Hansen is called to the bedside of a Jane Doe who has been beaten and left for dead with no ID and no memory, she expects to be dealing with a victim of domestic violence. The last thing she expects is to look into the eyes of the childhood friend who disappeared abruptly from her life fourteen years before.

Concussed, broken, and hypothermic, Jamie can't remember her own name, much less what personal circumstances brought her to such tragedy. But as the pieces of her memory begin to fit together, she does remember how much her friendship with Teagan meant to her through the long years of foster care, hard work, and heartbreak that followed that one magical summer.

As the indomitable Teagan vows to help Jamie get back on her feet again, the women's bond strengthens anew. But with Jamie's life under threat from a man she can't remember -- a man who is determined to find her again before she does -- Teagan's loyalties to her friend, her profession, and her new marriage are tested to their limits. And when the women realize that their pasts have been intertwined far more deeply than either of them knew, the fate that separated them once before threatens to tear them apart again. And this time, it could be forever.

I loved this book. It was fun to read. The mystery of the book kept me wanting to read on. I would recommend this to everyone.

Loved it. I read this book in one day. It was a fun read, good little mystery and a good tale of the power of friendship.

Good enough but not great. Seemed the "bad guy" was wrapped up with hurried description and an unclear motive. Reagen was too whiny for my liking

This was more a book about obligation and keeping your enemies close, rather than caring. I did not find this book belivable, nor did I like any of the characters. Jamie was helped by her childhood friend and her friend resented Jamie because of it. Perfectly edited. This would have been about 150 pages less, if scenes of jealousy had not been repeated every four or five chapters. This also destroyed the ending. If the author had focused less on this aspect and more on making a complete and satisfing ending, this novel would have been much better. Many questions went unanswered in this stand alone book. I paid $10.00 for this ebook. I had read, paid for, really enjoyed and archived, the Leigh Coswell series by this author. ( About $3 per book). $10 was a waste for this one. There isn't any cursing, descriptive violence, ( just a list of injuries and a mention of blood) or actual sex in this book. There is some nudity, sexual thoughts and conversations though. It is not a mystery, suspense, paranormal or romance. Just some sort of unclassifiable fiction. I found this novel, trite, inane, unsatisfying and a waste of my time and money. It is chick lit. For readers 16 and up. AD
