While The Music Box Murders is ideal for the antique collector who loves mysteries or for the mystery buff who dabbles in antique collecting, Karp does not alienate his non-collecting readers.

Library Journal
Thomas Pardue, upstanding and companionable member of a New York City music box collectors' club, discovers after purchasing a rare box that it was stolen from a murdered collector friend. Without wishing to incriminate himself, he bypasses police and attempts to find the killer, especially after the dealer who sold the box and Pardue's restorer friend are also murdered. Pardue's keen sense of humor, his loving relationship with his ramrod wife, and several wild and woolly close calls, as well as revelatory details about other collectors, make this first novel difficult to put down. An essential purchase.

This book was captivating. I could not put it down. As a music box collector, I felt such a kinship with our hero, a full time doctor, music box collector and restorer, and amateur detective who cannot give up on his quest to solve the murders, right the wrongs, and clear his friend's name. There are wonderful descriptions of antique music boxes that will make the true collector's mouth water. I am now adding Larry Karp to my list of favorite authors and look forward to reading his next 'music box' book.
