Two CDs with four albums -- there is no question Raven gives consumers bang for their buck on this 2013 release. Coe's 1974 major-label debut, The Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy, and its 1974 successor, Once Upon a Rhyme, are here, along with 1976's Longhaired Redneck and 1977's Rides Again, plus the bonus tracks "(If I Could Climb) The Walls

Overview

Two CDs with four albums -- there is no question Raven gives consumers bang for their buck on this 2013 release. Coe's 1974 major-label debut, The Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy, and its 1974 successor, Once Upon a Rhyme, are here, along with 1976's Longhaired Redneck and 1977's Rides Again, plus the bonus tracks "(If I Could Climb) The Walls of the Bottle," "Please Come to Boston," "Just to Prove My Love for You," "Face to Face," "Million Dollar Memories," and "Take This Job and Shove It," which makes this pretty much a distillation of prime David Allan Coe. The mere contents of this collection make it an attractive package, but the pricing and annotation make it hard to resist.
