There is a mystery surrounding the spirit of anger. So deep and so real is this mystery that many will come to this earth, live on it and die without understanding it. God said, “My people die of ignorance…” it does not mean education nor is it talking of how smart or worldly you are. No, no, no it is bigger than that. Ignorance is unawareness. It is lack of knowledge. And in most cases, it is a deliberate lack of knowledge. I have to call it deliberate, because the ignorant person would want to bite your nose ...
I have to call it deliberate, because the ignorant person would want to bite your nose off as you explain some mysteries of life. Not everything is as it is. What we see is not always the story. We see only what we see. As a result, many people will work and walk until they fall into their grave without actually realizing why they came to earth. Not once or twice, I have seen people who take the position of a teacher but should be a student. Why is that? Because they do not want to open their minds and learn or meditate on the words of God. Our Lord Jesus said everything will pass away but the words of God will never pass away.
Let us begin here with this story.
Have you ever come across this verses in the Bible? “Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged” (Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Colossians chapter 3, verses 20 to 21.) At first glance, you will understand that these verse were in place to build a better family relationship, but it is not always the case.
A man developed the habit of harassing his children. When he has gone to work, the children are happy with their mother and the house is full of joy. Immediately he comes back from work or they hear the sound of his car, everyone changes step. The house is as quiet as a grave yard and the smiling faces disappear. The man would come in and harass everyone, shouting, giving orders and demanding answers until the children are sore afraid. This was the routine day in and day out. Even their mother became afraid of him because she feared for the children.
One day he woke up and found himself sleeping in the same bed with his twelve year old daughter. The man could not believe himself. He tried to get out of bed and found that he was wearing only shorts. Now, he was very afraid. The daughter turned on the light in the bedroom and said, “Dad, what are you doing here?” He stammered back that he did not know. The girl said, she was going to shout for help and the father began to plead with her. Though he did not understand what happened to him or why he was in the daughter’s bed, the consequences were unimaginable. One, he was a top guy in his place of work and two, he held a trustee’s position in the church. He could not visualize how disgusted people will be towards him if they hear about such an incident. Therefore, he began to plead with this girl. He went on his knees and prostrated on the floor pleading with his twelve year old daughter not to expose him.
