Overview

This work has become a benchmark of popular anthropology and psychology.

Zoologist Desmond Morris considers humans as being simply another animal species in this classic book first published in 1967. Here is the Naked Ape at his most primal in love, at work, at war. Meet man as he really is: relative to the apes, stripped of his veneer as we see him courting, making love, sleeping, socializing, grooming, playing. The Naked Ape takes its place alongside Darwin’s Origin of the Species, presenting man not as a fallen angel, but as a risen ape, remarkable in his resilience, energy and imagination, yet an animal nonetheless, in danger of forgetting his origins.

With its penetrating insights on mans beginnings, sex life, habits and our astonishing bonds to the animal kingdom, The Naked Ape is a landmark, at once provocative, compelling and timeless.

Incredible, his line of thoughts are so logic and full of thought, not to mention observation, that it has the power to persuade your way of thinking. I recommend this book.

I definitely recommend That Naked Ape to anyone interested in learning more about their own behavior. So much of our behavior is evolutionary-based and we do not even realize it. This book also brings us down to earth. We are seen as what we really are--a highly-specialized member of the animal kingdom.

This is a fascinating book which explains the origin of our most mundane daily behavior. I would recommend this classic book to anyone interested in human behavior. The author's observation that we spend billions on perfumes and aftershave lotions whereas in reality it is our naturally occurring pheromones which attract the opposite sex is scientifically correct. His advice: do not bathe?

This is one of those books that you have to read in order to really understand the human. So interesting.
