Overview

“Another man would have made it an affair and nothing else. Another man would have been more ruthless, more cynical. The naked husband falls in love.”

Mark d'Arbanville has the 'perfect life': a successful writer, he is happily married with a teenage son.

But when he falls in love with another woman, Mark's life unravels, exposing regret, estrangement and heartache. Yet as his marriage falls apart Mark still can't let go. Nor can his lover, Anna, who won't leave her husband. When Mark finally does make the break, the effect is catastrophic - his wife commits suicide. The circuit breaker comes when Mark finds his dead wife's journals, and in their pages discovers a man - himself - he can barely recognize.

He is forced to take stock of who he is and how men and women live their lives.

THE NAKED HUSBAND takes a candid look at the way men think, act and feel inside a relationship. Shocking, disturbing but impossible to put down, it's a novel for every woman who ever found the reality of sex and marriage so different to the fairytale, and wondered why.

Meet the Author

Colin Falconer was born in North London. He worked many years in Television and Radio and was a freelance writer for leading newspapers and magazines in Australia. However, Colin had a dream of writing novels with a profound message of follow your heart, live your passion and he did just that. He built his writing career on the notion that if you miss all the chances you don’t take and he began to live the life he imagined.

He’s had over dozen books published and is well known as a bestselling Author in Australia. His current re-release, The Naked Husband, has never before been sold in the United States. He was told that, even though it hit #5 of Australia’s DYMOCKS Booksellers list and had a first printing of 50k and a second printing of 60k, he could not sell this book in the US.

I liked reading this book, but the two main characters were so mentally challenged that it was disturbing. The first 49 pages were annoying because Mark kept comparing wife verses lover. This man was soo obsessed with Anna to the point of a sickness. All on all it was a decent read, not a page turner. I like the authors style of writing, flowing and smooth, good usage of words. Would recommend.

I could not put this book down. If you have a romantic bone in your body, you will like it. We humans are way too complex emotionally!

This was a very interesting book, lots of emotion. I found myself pulling for mark, even though what he was doing was not right, we are all human. And what exactly did he do in the end? I wonder, is this a true story? Be sure to read the afterword part at the end of the book.

Don't like you marriage or life? Then grow a pair and change it...don't jerk everyone around and make their lives miserable too. ALL of the main characters are guilty of this. And the misuse of quotations was so distracting from the story. I found this book to be very irritating all around, but at least the author reveals that he now sees the error in his ways.

I really like this book. I must say I can relate to Anne and Sue. I have been the lover and the lover.

Wow!!! This was an excellent book. I read it in less than two days. I could not put it down! Great peek into a man's perception of being in a relationship, the struggles and challenges, and the importance of honest communication. Great job Mr. Falconer!!!!!!

TBH I really didn't like this book. It was self indulgent and obviously written by a man that couldn't see his part in either one of the situations. I sense that his original intention was for this to be a journal that he decided to print at the urging of his mistress. (she was also self-centered) So unless your a bit of a voyer into disfunctional lives I say avoid this book.

The constant errors in writing are almost enough to make me stop reading this book, however, the characters draw you in. Good read.

I think this book is very ragged and confusing. The main character just wanted someone he could not truly possess. It is depressing and continues that way trough to the end.

Wow. Read it in one day, couldn't put it down. The fact that it was broken down in such short chapters made it very easy to read, and always saying just one more , just one more, until  finished it. This is not your regular Colin Falconer novel. I was surprised at the theme, from an author who writes historical fiction and thrillers. This is a book about the complexity of marriage; it is also a book about affairs, viewed from the wayward husband's perspective. It is a very intriguing book. If you have been recently betrayed and coping with triggers, you might want to stay away from it. Although it can help some very depressed betrayed spouses, too.  from the author's note: If this book can persuade even one person to throw that box of pills down the toilet, and not down their throat, then it has served its purpose; if it persuades just one man or one woman that you should either mend a relationship or break clean before you move to another, then the book is worthwhile.  This book is not part of the Naked series: Naked in Havana, Naked in LA and Naked in Saigon. But I recommend those too. I read and own most of Falconer's novels.

Finally an infidelity story from a male's point of view. I was surprised how much I enjoy it. The struggle is not so different from the female.

Very accurate representation of a mans mind and actions. Truth be told a great read because although it might be hard to read it quickly sums up the old adage' the truth hurts'. We all are flawed and seperation or destruction of a union or partnership is never just one persons fault.
