The Nanotech Murders by Lee Gimenez is one of the more smoothly written books I've read in a while. It's very lean, very no-nonsense like the main character, with whom I instantly empathized. He's a cop who cares--so much that now there's trouble at home. Not that it's necessary to be a cop to understand him. Anyone can love something so much that it causes neglect elsewhere. I don't normally read this genre, but it seems to me that this book must do well with readers. The plot and characterization are nicely interwoven. I just kept turning pages.

I had read several other books by this author and found them to be very good, so I decided to read this one. I'm very glad I did. The book works on several levels. It's great, action-driven sci-fi, but also an engaging mystery. The main characters I found to be very well-rounded. I especially liked Cassandra Smith, the female lead. Looking forward to reading more by this author.
