As far as I am concerned, there is no other biography of Alexander that is even worth reading. This is the only one. Renault's scholarship is impeccable and her understanding of the subject matter is beyond that of any other non-academic writer, and the large majority of the academic writers.

    I was incredibly dissapointed

I am obsessed with Alexander the Great, and Ancient History itself, and I have read many books about both. This was undoubtedly one of the most dissapointing. It was poorly written, poorly told.

    A splendid and interesting read

I spent college reading every variety of dull and inaccurate translation to boring historical sketches. However, Renault brought to life the notion of Alexander as a human. She illustrated his emotion, his pride, and his pain. Renault's style can disturb some readers but her substance is so very unique and refreshing that The Nature of Alexander cannot be ignored. Whether ancient history intrigues or occupies your life, this book should be a pleasure.

    THE king of Babylon

The information in this book is very helpful those interested in Holy Scriptre (Old Testament). The information in this book supports Alexander, Maximus (the Great)as the Babylonian king who 'cast down the stars of heaven' and was the abominable Branch not to be burried in his own land.
