Definitely the BEST of the best in Bibles. Not only is it in the NASB (the most literal word-for-word English translation available)but it comes fully equipped to teach you how to study the Bible for yourself- how to let Scripture interpret scripture (vs some "scholar" telling you what a passage means). If you apply the method taught within it's pages you will be astounded at how much you will get out of your Bible study time!! Honestly!! Since someone turned me on to this Bible and this way of study I have grown leaps and bounds in my knowlege of scripture and of God. I can't recommend it highly enough (can you tell??? :) )

About the Binding & Cover This edition is made from high quality Genuine leather, with a Smythe sewn binding. The cover has a rich leathery feel, rich color and well defined grain. Bibles covered in Genuine leather are very durability and will last for many years. Genuine leather is made from the remaining layers after the top layer has been removed, at that point it has a suede surface which is then refinished to add grain and texture. Genuine leather can be refinished in many textures from fine grain to crocodile skin. This edition lays flat while you are reading because of its high quality Smythe sewn binding. Smythe sewn binding is considered the highest quality binding, the pages are sewn and glued to the spine of the Bible. The benefits are a long lasting Bible that can be read and reread for years without falling apart. Books with Smythe sewn binding will stand up to more abuse than regular glued binding, and can be read on a flat surface. For these reasons many textbooks, picture books and Bibles that are designed to stand the tests of time use Smythe sewn binding. Smythe sewn book printing and binding gets its name from its inventor, an Irish-American named David McConnell Smythe (1833-1807). A pioneer of modern day bookbinding, Smythe took a bold leap forward over the centuries old methods of binding by producing the first technology and methods for sewing book pages to the spine to create a book of superior quality and appearance. Smythe-sewn Bibles are durable, but they may be heavier and less flexible than glued Bibles. That said if you want the best, then you want Smythe sewn binding. Size: 9.5 X 6.5 X 2.25 (inches) What's inside? The text of this edition is 9.5 pt, which is clear and easy to read. The layout of this Bible is single column format, black letter edition, with blank paragraph/subject headings so that you can write your own subject headings. This new edition contains many special and revised features: a 32-page guide to carrying out the steps of observation, interpretation, and application, full-color pages with step-by-step instructions and overviews for every book of the Bible, individualized instructions and overviews every book of the Bible, Wide margins for note taking, 24 pages of full-color charts historical time-lines and maps, dozens of unique study helps including a comprehensive history of Israel, cross-references, and concordance. This Bible is printed on high quality paper, because of the thinness of the paper I recommend using Sakura Pigma Micron Pens and Crayola Color Pencils for highlighting. The margins are 1 1/4"" along the outside of the pages. This edition has a burgundy ribbon marker, the pages are edged with gold which looks elegant with the burgundy cover. My Personal Opinion The NISB is one of the most interactive study Bibles I have ever seen. This Bible teaches you how to observe, interpret, and apply scripture through careful observation. This is a very unique and useful study Bible. The NISB is available in Hardcover, Bonded Leather and Genuine Leather editions

Everything about this product exudes quality. From the cover, binding, paper and presentation, everything radiates excellence. I have many 'study Bibles', each of which I value on it's own merits and each providing individual characteristics which I find helpful in my studies of Scripture. Yet few, if any match this one on an overall basis. Although a relative stranger to the Updated New American Standard Translation, it is 'growing on me' and I have been warmly surprised with it's accuracy in a number of areas. Most of my previous experience being among the NIV, KJV and NKJV translations. The text here is very clear, relatively large and extremely easy to read, It is presented in what is best described as a 'single column text'. The latter is a rare feature but in my experience it makes reference to the Scriptures far easier and facilitates study and reading. Alongside the text are some of the best margins that I have come across. The margins measuring approximately 1 3/4', are located on the outside of each page. Ideal for making personal notes and references. Each book of the Bible has it's own introduction and study guide amongst other references/features. A thorough concordance and 'Helps' section are also included. There is even a section with advice on how to approach the interpretation of Biblical prophecy, as well as an outline on how to read through the entire Bible in one year. The colourful maps are plentiful and accurate in their historical reference. Up-to-date maps pertaining to the current time are also provided. It is so refreshing to see the correct terminology used on the maps. Gone are the inaccurate quotations of 'Palestine in the time of Christ' etc., which are frequently used in some versions. (Palestine not existing at the `time of Christ' and only coming into fruition following the Roman changing of the Jewish nation's name into Syria Palestina around AD135. This eventually becoming 'anglicised' into Palestine) A chronological history of the Jewish people and the nation of Israel is also provided, together with a study on the Tabernacle and the two Jewish Temples. The coloured graphics are superb. Numerous blank pages are also provided for your personal notes etc.. A section is also devoted to the 'Major Events In Israel's History' with a time-line stemming from Adam/Abraham, the Exodus to the Birth Of Christ & the Destruction of Jerusalem (AD70 & AD132), including the renaming of Jerusalem to Aelia Capitolina by the occupying Roman forces etc.. Also covered are the occupations of the Holy Land by the Romans, Byzantines, Crusaders, Ayyubids, Mamluks, Muslims, Ottomans and the British. The British Mandate and the Arab-Israeli conflicts of the modern era are also mentioned together with a reference to the ongoing `peace process'. Appropriately there are no political observations, just relevant comments on these events and appropriate Scriptural references. There is no 'Replacement Theology' in this excellent presentation, just Scriptural accuracy showing the true place of both the Jewish People and the Christian Church in God's Purposes & Plans. Although initially provided for use with the 'inductive study system', (which is clearly outlined/described), I do not use that particular system, preferring to use this Bible as per my own personal method of study. Another reviewer has described this as perhaps 'the last study Bible you'll ever need'. It will certainly take some beating ! Highly recommended.

This is an excellent study bible. I've bought several of them over the years to help those who are new to studying Gods word. There are leading questions that bring light to scripture in a deep and meaningful way. Highly recommend ed.

This is a fantastic idea. I love the wide margins, and the single column and the refrences in the binding. I wish other Bible publishers would adopt this format. Unfortunately the Bible is not truly a 'blank slate' it is a sales pitch for futurist prophetic understanding. There is a chart in the book of Daniel, which is not true to the text of Daniel 2. I wish they had left that out, as it is a lead in to a particular an unusual view of prophecy.
