Editorial Reviews

Booknews
Keating (political science, U. of Western Ontario, Canada) views territorial politics as a constant in European history<-->despite not fitting in with some modernization paradigms. Nonetheless, the author proceeds to discuss the new regionalism of the European Union emerging Phoenix-like from the ashes of the postwar model of territorial management in the Keynesian welfare state. Concluding that regions do matter but will not supersede nation states, he lists six European countries' regions and their allocation of functions to regional governments.
