    A Very Good Gift Bible

For those looking for annotations and introductions to each book, try the New Oxford Annotated Bible with the Apocrypha: New Revised Standard Version. Ed. Michael D. Coogan. 3rd ed. (ISBN: 0195284828) instead. This, however, is a trade paperback-sized volume that gives you simply the Bible 'unplugged.' It is most useful for a fast, straight, uninterrupted reading of the Bible, since there's no distracting commentary or references. The New Revised Standard Version makes it all the better since it is the most accurate and scholarly translation available in the 21st century. The Oxford hardcover edition (ISBN: 0195283309) also makes a very good gift Bible for students and friends. Both paperback and hardcover editions are bound very well, have flexible binding that allows the reader to leave the book open on his desk, and are printed on high quality, acid-free paper. Newer volumes include a select concordance and an excellent set of maps.

This is just what I was looking for.An easy to understand Bible with everything needed for study all in one place. You don't have to be a real Bible study person to gain from all the material it includes. I found the 'To The Reader' section to be very helpful.
