Meet the Author

Actress-author, K Callan began writing her series of showbiz guides in 1985 when she realized that although most actors, writers and directors might know about top conglomerate agencies like ICM, WME and CAA, there was little information available about smaller and mid-level agents and no informed advice about how to choose and attract agents.

Thirty books later, she is still clipping articles, surfing the web, calling and interviewing agents, talking to union and casting executives, interviewing actors, writers and directors about their journeys and passing her research along to artists on the rise.

Callan's professional career began at Margo Jones Theatre in her home town of Dallas and has continued through regional, off Broadway, Broadway, films and television. Her big break came with her first film, "Joe”. Her portrayal of Peter Boyle's mousy wife brought her glowing reviews in "The New York Times.

A voting member of both the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Callan is also a past member of the Board of Directors of Screen Actors Guild.

Her most visible television role was playing Superman's Mom in ABC's hit comedy, "Lois & Clark: the new adventures of Superman.” A regular on four television series and a guest star on scores of episodes, Callan's has played a demented Miss Daisy for Tyler Perry on "Meet the Browns” and a crime boss on "The Mentalist.” Her newest film, "Not that Funny” starring Brigid Brannagh and Tony Hale is slated for release in Summer 2012.
