Overview

Revision 1: August 18, 2010. The definitive, no stones left unturned handbook for the next papal election following the reign of the current pope, Benedict XVI. By the author of 'Popes and the Tale of Their Names' and the publisher of the 'www.popes-and-papacy.com' web site. This is a book for anybody that is interested in the popes, papacy, conclaves and Catholicism. This large book is full of insights, analysis, opinions, statistics and trivia. The author's prior book was applauded for its unique look at papal history through the prism of papal names. This book, six times the size, covers potential papabili, papal eligibility, conclaves, papal elections, College of Cardinals and papal names with a similar passion and intensity. A must read for anybody even vaguely interested about popes.

Anura research and familiarity with the topic as well as his love of the subject matter shines through in this groundbreaking work, which through modern technology and the internet, truly becomes a living work! He employs rationale for selection of papible which are practical and realistic. He gives everything you need to know for the election of a pope as well as a comprehensive history of papal elections, names, and the college of cardinals which arms one to become familiar not only with candidates, but also with history and process. The author is available for conversation and additional information through his website and email which allows for any enthusiast of the subject to fuel his/her thirsts for dialogue. I think every Cardinal should read this book and every Catholic interested in how the Church selects its leader. This book is destined to become universally sought after and known as the Pope becomes older and another conclave become eminent. I would encourage people to get it now and become familiar with it. Updates are available on author's website, so the book will never grow outdated no matter how many years Benedict serves as Pontiff.
