Overview

Kaia's been gone for five years, but now she's back and Zinc is on the brink of war.

The new "Numbers" program, created by the Tueors' leader, tracks and isolates demigods. Kaia's friend, Catrina, refuses to take part, and that makes her the most dangerous Number of all.

It's Kaia's duty to gather and protect the treasures of the gods-which hold their life essence. But neither the treasures nor Catrina are what they appear to be.

As the day a dire prophesy foresees draws nearer, will Kaia be able to reverse the gears of fate, or will everything she's ever loved be burned away by the flames of war?

It's been 5 years ever since Kaia Ketoki started her journey as The Chosen. There's a Numbers program that hunts down demigods. This alone tests Kaia and Catrina's friendship, and we get into the characters' pasts as well as their feelings. Reeze becomes more relaxed and at the same time, more protective of Kaia, as he should be. I hope there are lovey-dovey feelings for this couple in particular. Catrina and Derek's relationship is tested, too. The RPG flair with classic village locations, mythology, and vivid imagery are present in this second book. I felt like I was playing an RPG that I don't want to end. Kaia has matured greatly and I love love her take-charge attitude. She has leadership qualities, and I also like how she gets more confidence in her ability with her own strength. I am looking forward to Book 3.
