Meet the Author

The Rev. Stuart Higginbotham is an Episcopal priest serving as Senior Associate at St. Benedict's parish in Smyrna, GA. He has served at St. Benedict's since the parish's founding in 2008, and his ministry focuses on spiritual formation, membership integration, and prayer. He received a Masters of Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia. He also received a Diploma in Anglican Studies from the School of Theology at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
Stuart serves as the chair of the Commission on Spiritual Growth in the Diocese of Atlanta, and he participates with the Shalem Institute for Spiritual Formation in its programs on contemplative leadership.
Stuart has offered retreats throughout the Atlanta area, and for Province IV of The Episcopal Church, focusing on contemplative practices and interfaith dialogue.
Before his ordination as a priest, Stuart served as a hospice chaplain in the Atlanta area, a ministry very close to his heart.
He, his wife Lisa, and their daughter Evelyn live in Marietta where they like to play in the yard, cook, and watch Evelyn paint pictures.
