The Obsidian Serpent
In the fall of 1868, the Black Hawk War is over. But when two young men suddenly disappear in the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains, the Utes become the prime suspects. Yet, not everyone is so sure the Utes are guilty. Uneasy over the disappearance of her fiancé, a young girl asks Collin Mitchell for help. But Mitchell has a reputation, and among the Mormons of the Utah Territory, a reformed gunman is not always the most welcome man in town.
As the Union Pacific Railroad blasts its way through the twisted rock at Devil’s Gate, rumors of Spanish gold permeate the atmosphere of the small mountain town of Heber City, drawing outlaws and treasure hunters in a desperate hunt for Aztec gold.
In the foothills above town, the ghosts of long forgotten conquistadors haunt the trails, and a grisly scene of murder and greed begins to unfold as Collin Mitchell hunts the aspen forest in search of a killer and the treasure of the Obsidian Serpent.
