Editorial Reviews

Market Watch, The Wall Street Journal - Al Lewis
Mobster joke book leaves ’em dying laughing
At least one joke highlights a fundamental flaw that this book struggles to overcome: “What’s the problem with mobster jokes? Mobsters don’t think they’re funny, and everyone else thinks they’re not jokes.”
A few one-liners...
“How many mobsters does it take to throw a man down the stairs? None. He fell.”
“How come a mobster’s eyes water on a first date? Mace."
Seattle PI - Greg Barbrick
With a title like The Official Book of Mob Humor, how could a guy resist?
...is filled with classic dead-pan moments...
One of the funnier chapters is "Headline Hits," which shows how the New York papers vie to come up with the best Mob-pun headlines. A couple of examples are "Yule Be Sorry, Rat Squeals on Gotti Over $50 X-Mas Gift," and "Meat Shop Mob Guy Will Never Loin. Kushner even reproduces the little two or three paragraph articles that these witticisms were created for.
Santa Cruz Sentinel - Tim Simmers
The book is well researched, and also contains 100 actual newspaper headlines poking fun at mobsters. For example: In 1998, the New York Daily News carried the headline: "Mobster to Get Slice of Prison Life'' over the story of a wise guy who started a pizzeria so he could sell heroin with slices.
There's also a section on mob women, including some Q&A jokes, including one that goes like this: Q - What do you say to a mob thug with a good-looking girl on his arm? A - Nice tattoo.
Barnes and Noble 5-star review & Word Press - Richard Blake
Kushner's humor is guaranteed to tickle the funny bone of every law-abiding citizen, officer of the law, as well as the families and associates of Mafia members from every ethnic group.
I especially enjoyed the creative messages and imagination in the cartoon illustrations drawn by Kenny Durkins. Another of the features that kept me laughing was the chapter "Headline Hits" made up of humor found in actual newspaper headlines.
Amazon 5-star review - Isabel Somebody

    Decidedly Entertaining

Award winning author Malcolm Kushner, often recognized as “America’s Favorite Humor Consultant,” adds a new title to his repertoire of published collections of quips, quotes, jokes, and anecdotes. “The Official Book of Mob Humor” is packed with wit, wisdom, and headlines featuring quirks, oddities, and idiosyncrasies, of the mob. Kushner’s humor is guaranteed to tickle the funny bone every law abiding citizen, officer of the law, as well as the families and associates of Mafia members from every ethnic group. I especially enjoyed the creative message and imagination in the cartoon illustrations drawn by Kenny Durkins. Another of the featured that kept me laughing was the chapter “Headline Hits” made up of humor found in actual newspaper headlines. “The Interrogation Room” contains Mob Q & A, featuring hilarious one line riddle like questions with funny quip answers from “downright corny” to “brilliantly clever.” For movie fans Kushner includes a comprehensive list of “mob related comedies” with wild hilarious plots involving mobsters, racketeers, and criminals from every imaginable diversity. He also includes memorable quotes from these movies. In a day when the experts are touting “laughing” as a way for finding health and happiness, and doctors are prescribing “laughter” as a stress reliever, Malcolm Kushner’s humor is destined to establish this book as “The Official Book of Mob Humor.” Decidedly entertaining. Highly recommended. A complimentary copy of this book was provided for review purposes. The opinions expressed are my own.
