This is a highly imformative book that is great for all cheerleaders with many stunts, leaps, cheers, tumbling moves...you get the idea. There's also a whole bunch of tips for many things like fundrasing, tryouts, and much more. The only problem with the book? It's too outdated! I hope they will write a newer edition of the book for today's cheerleaders!

If you are a cheerleader, this book is a good reminder of how far we've come. It does contain some good material on organizing your squad, but PLEASE don't use any material from this book. Otherwise, if you need to relax and feel better about your squads abilities, get this book.

This book has its pros and cons, though I would say there are more pros. 'The All New Official Cheerleader's Handbook' is exactly what the cover claims, an official handbook for cheerleaders nationwide. This 300 page book is an excellent manual for cheerleaders. Included in this book are conditioning and warm-up excercises, tryout tips, a large gallery of chants and cheers, jumps, stunts, pyramids, gymnastics skills, safety, fund-raising ideas, and much more. The book also includes many sample cheers complete with jumps, gymnastics, and stunts. The book also has many black- and white photographs explaining the jumps, gymnastics, stunts, pyramids, etc. Now, for the cons of the book. I think that this book is a little too outdated. After all, it was published in 1986. Some of the book's cheers, chants, and stunts were outdated too. A lot of them are not in use anymore in today's cheerleading. Plus, the photos could use some updating, and I think it would be best if a new edition of this book would be published for today's cheerleader with updated skills and information. The other con of this book is that it doesn't include a lot of instruction, or weak instruction. Many of the pyramids in this book do not have anything saying how to mount and dismount, how many people you need for it, how to acheive the position, and things like that. The book does not include instruction for the jumps either. For the gymnastics skills, there was some instruction, but it was weak, just giving about 5 hints for each movement. Overall, this book is a good purchase, but it needs more instruction and it should be updated.
