Meet the Author

When the author and her husband Tim, a professional artist, turned forty in the late 1980s, they moved from Ohio with their family to an 1880 house in Brewster on Cape Cod. The Cape’s history, culture, and brilliant natural light drew them in; this was a place where Tim could paint and Barbara would write.

A storyteller at heart, Barbara’s imagination took flight after she unearthed a mysterious pattern of red bricks under ten inches of soil behind her barn. She conjured up a connection to the Bellamy/Hallett legend, and her first novel was born.

She is currently a Member in Letters of the National League of American Pen Women, The Cape Writers Center, two writing groups, and a contributor to Primetime Magazine. Always a journal writer, she is fascinated by history and writes a blog about the unique facts and myths of Cape Cod.

For her first book, Barbara Struna deftly weaves a story between different centuries, holding the reader's attention with each twist and turn! Adding to the well constructed plot is the careful research which embroiders the story. If you enjoy a historical novel, you'll love "The Old Cape House."

    extremely amateurish

This author murdered a good plot ...the writing was very basic and kind of on the level of "run dick run".

    A good story

The story line is engaging, but I prefer more use of figurative language and descriptive writing. The novel was well written, not beautifully written.

    Awful

It has been a long time since a book was so bad I could not even finish it. The author never grabs your attention or entices you to want to read more.

I read this until my eyes were burning and unfocused. I couldn't put it down!

The author of this book took me through every emotion a reader can have. I did not want to go to sleep. My eyes were burning so I had to stop but I knew what glory I had waiting for me in the morning! Very powerful dipiction of history.

Decent story, but the writing could use some work.
