Meet the Author

Clara Reeve (1729–1807) was an English writer. Reeve began publishing in the 1770s, culminating in THE OLD ENGLISH BARON in 1777. Reeve wrote the work as an homage to (or in imitation of) Horace Walpole's Gothic Classic THE CASTLE OF OTRANTO. She died in 1807, largely forgotten.
