Eric Zaccar’s first professional submission, after his graduation from NYU Tisch Dramatic Writing, was immediately optioned by Joseph Papp and slated to be directed and choreographed by a Tony Award winning team. Though unforeseeable circumstances prevented The Oedipus Complex from seeing the light of a stage, the project was donated by the New York Shakespeare Festival to the Lincoln Center Library’s Archive Collection. A campy animated film of the piece has developed a considerable online following.

Eric’s plays that have been produced in New York include Housing, The Assassination That Saved John ‘s Pizzeria, I’ll See You in Hell, and the social satire for the stage, Starr’s on Broadway. Songs are being actively recorded by professional singers and musicians for his new musical Topper, that is currently being developed for the stage.

Eric’s screenplays include On the Other Side, The Only Trace, Julian’s Quest and the much acclaimed, soon to be produced, Without Hate.

Eric’s wide assortment of song lyrics have been put to music, recorded and performed, in numerous styles, by over twenty five local singers, bands and musicians. He produced and wrote four of the songs for Empty Skyline, a CD of September 11 related music that is in museums and libraries in New York. Eric’s title piece was used as the soundtrack of an award nominated short film. All of his 9-11 related songs have been performed at events and memorials, through the years.

Eric co-produced and starred in Parking Madness in New York for German Network TV. He coordinated talent and wrote speeches for several large, celebrity filled charity benefits in Manhattan. Eric’s been a featured guest on more than a few radio talk shows, including those hosted by Howard Stern, Joey Reynolds and Joe Franklin.

Though he’s also written numerous teleplays, sketches and short stories, this is Eric’s first official book. He would like to offer a warm embrace and a drink if the occasion should arise, to anyone and everyone who didn’t just skip to this last page and actually read it all through.
