Great for those who are familiar with the Bible, but probably not best for new Bible readers.

As someone who has studied and read the Bible since childhood, the Chronological Bible is a refreshing and interesting way to read it through! If someone would like to start a Bible reading regimen, I'd recommend the standard One Year Bible because it separates into Old & New Testament segments, Psalms, and Proverbs while the chronological may be a little heavy in some of the Old Testament books.
I enjoy the new perspective it gives and that it allows one to align the prophets with the kings, and the times in which they prophecied. Also in the New Testament, I enjoy how the activities and letters of Paul are matched.

I appreciate the notes and footnotes, also.

A fresh new way to read the Bible

I have used this Bible for a couple of years, perhaps not hitting every day each year, but getting nearly all of it in the course of a couple of years. It helps one to see more of the 'dynamics' of how the Bible was written because of the chronological sequencing. It is also helpful to have the explanatory notes in gaining a better understanding of who was doing the writing/speaking, and how the message fits in with the historical context.

    Chronological Bible

It's the Bible, so what could be said about the content? I like the NIV translation. I like it for the purpose of reading the Bible in a year, and also for the sense of history. I never realized, for example, that the story of Job was as early as it was. I wouldn't want to use this as my primary Bible, simply because it's more difficult to find specific chapters. I do like the format of having each reading section dated as to month and day.

    brings great insight for study

ha ha! I like what the other reviewer said, "It's the Bible, so what could be said about the content?" It's not a replacement for your everyday Bible - but it's excellent for study and continuity in understanding the history of God's people. (I'm about halfway through this chronological format now.) I'd highly recommend it to someone who wants to get a stronger connection to God, God's word, provision and vision for his people. it puts into a fresh (kind of a linear) perspective

I went through this with my wife last year. It was amazing to see the psalms in context. And to be able to see the minor prophets where they were in history make them make more sense. You can really see that God has been pursuing the human race since creation.
