This book is targeted to Mothers with daughters who are pre-teens. This is a book that will entertain and encourage both Mother and daughter through its writings. There is even a "Girl Gab" section that will help spark discussion between the two about Scripture, the child's understanding of Scripture and Biblical concepts as well as their relationship with God. Topics in this book include purity, witnessing, living out your faith, self-esteem, modesty, handling emotions and much more. This book is a great Mother-Daughter devotional book. I especially liked the way that it was written in such a way that even our 9 year old could understand it and learn from it. The daily readings are not too long and don't take much time to establish a main concept or key principal for that day's devotion. It is a great way to start or end your day with your daughter and it helps them learn to feel more comfortable talking with you about spiritual matters of their heart. I think this book would also be a fun thing for a group of Mom's to do together with their daughters who are all friends or attend church together. Then the girls could all have another peer who was doing the same thing each day that they were doing and would spark some great conversations not only among the girls but among the Mom's as well.

I highly recommend this devotional for mothers and daughters of the tween years. It focuses on everyday situations with Bible scriptures and exercises and crafts.
Not only does this devotional highlight the importance of morals, etc. with daughters and mothers, it also encourages relationship strengthening between mothers and daughters.
I look forward to using this particular devotional with all of my girls as they face their pre-teen years.

Are you looking for a way to connect spiritually to your tween/teen daughter? Then get your hands on The One Year Mother Daughter Devo by Dannah Gresh with Janet Mylin. This devotional helps mothers connect with their daughters through a daily biblical passage along with an activity or discussion to make the passage applicable to their lives.
The passages often have short stories that provide open discussion on issues pertinent to young people today while inserting Christian values. Each day has a "Girl Gab" instructing the mother or daughter to discuss topics as simple as your favorite animal to what it was like when the mother was growing up. Sometimes, it may even be an activity such as painting your toenails bright pink together! The book also includes some simple craft activities that anyone is capable of doing as well as a few recipes.
Although my daughters are still very young, I have had a lot of work experience with teen and preteen girls. I feel the bond between any mother and daughter who reads this together will definitely be strengthened. It will bring them joy, laughter, understanding of themselves and compassion for the world around them. In essence, it will open their eyes to a new way of living.
