January 1

God Made Me Special!

Royal Words

How you [Lord] made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful. I know that very well. Psalm 139:14

Princess Thoughts

Wow! God made you special! He chose to make your hair curly or straight. He picked the color of your eyes and the color of your skin. He chose the shape of your nose. He even chose how tall you will grow!

A Prayer for the King

Dear Father God, thank you for making me special and choosing my eyes, hair, and skin.

Princess in Action

Look in a mirror and see how God chose to make you. What color are your eyes? Do you have curly or straight hair? What color is your hair? God loves how you look. Tell someone else today that God made him or her special too.

Made with Love

Royal Words

You [Lord] created the deepest parts of my being. You put me together. Psalm 139:13

Princess Thoughts

God made every single part of you, from your head to your feet. He took time to make you just the way he wanted you to look. And God loves how you look!

A Prayer for the King

God, thanks for taking time to make me, from the top of my head to the tips of my toes.

Princess in Action

Put a puzzle together, one piece at a time. Look at the puzzle when you have finished. It looks great! Talk with your mom or dad about how God had fun putting you together. You look great!

A Beautiful Smile

Royal Words

[God] will fill your mouth with laughter. Shouts of joy will come from your lips. Job 8:21

Princess Thoughts

God made your mouth! He gave you pretty teeth and a wonderful smile to make you beautiful on the outside.

A Prayer for the King

Father, thanks for my teeth and my pretty smile.

Princess in Action

Care for your teeth by brushing them after you eat. Look at your princess smile in the mirror, and be sure to smile at everyone you see.

Hair Fun

Royal Words

[Your heavenly Father] even counts every hair on your head!

Matthew 10:30

Princess Thoughts

Try counting your hairs, and you'll see you have lots of hair! You have about 100,000 hairs on your head. That's a lot! Did you know that God has even numbered each one? He knows you right down to the last hair on your head, whether it is straight, curly, red, brown, black, or yellow.

A Prayer for the King

Thank you, Father, for caring about every inch of me, including each and every hair!

Princess in Action

Take care of the hair God gave you. It's like a crown. Have fun with a hair party. Do your mom's or sister's hair! Tell your mom or sister, "God loves you so much that he counts every one of your hairs!"

Precious Daily Devotions! Each day of the year has a special

    Precious Daily Devotions!

Each day of the year has a special theme where the bible verse, called "Royal Words" is relevant to the initial theme of the day. Following the bible verse is "Princess Thoughts," a brief and easy to understand lesson based on the scripture for the day. "A Prayer for the King" follows, and these prayers are brief, simple and clear. "Princess in Action" is an application where the child can actively participate in a fun activity to apply what she has learned in her daily devotion. These activities are creative and give a little princess extra quality time with her parent(s).

My Princess Devotions is a beautifully illustrated, easily understood application for preschool and kindergarten girls. The appearance is "all girl" with princesses depicted on the cover and throughout the book, the use of pinks and purples which are generally a little girl's favorite colors, and what little girl doesn't imagine herself to be a princess? While some may look at the "princess" theme as a negative connotation, the use of this theme is more importantly a means to show the child that she is special, not only in our eyes, but in God's eyes. Every little girl is a daughter of the King, a princess!

This sweet book is an excellent tool for parents to use in helping their little girls understand who God is, what he has done for us, and the way that he teaches us to live for him. Using this book with our little girls is a beautiful way to spend time together in both a spiritual way and having fun together. My little granddaughter will love this book!

The illustrated My Princess Devotions pre-school edition by Kare

The illustrated My Princess Devotions pre-school edition by Karen Whiting is now offered by the popular "The One Year" devotion book series. The cover- depicting two friendly bright cartoons of two young princess girls - will draw in the attention of younger girls. This hardcover book, with its kid- friendly size and bright bold colors is the perfect accompaniment to any young girls home décor or book shelf. Pink pages and pretty graphics add visual appeal to this book for young children to follow as an adult reads. Each day's devotion is quick, and too the point as well as easy to understand for young minds. The simplicity of this book is its strong point as the text is short enough to allow even the youngest of children to grasp the meaning. The problem with many children's devotional books is that they can sometimes be too lengthy, losing the interest of the child for which they are intended. While a wordy devotional passage may capture the approval of the parent, it is often not a good fit for younger readers and what winds up happening is that the parent has to sum up and interpret the passage for the child.

Overall the colorful pink graphics will keep the young child's eyes on the page long enough for the adult to share the quick message. What is ambiguous is that the cute little graphics and pink pages are aimed at young readers. Yet there are only illustrations at the beginning of the month pages. A few more cartoons within the devotional days themselves would be good to include as well.

The choices of bible verses are perfectly suited for young listeners. They are relevant and applicable. Not only do I feel this book is a perfect introduction to the bible for young girls, it is the perfect parent aid to teaching a child about the bible. The princess theme is cliché and often overused, but it is popular nonetheless. This book would make a good choice when introducing a young girl to the bible and God. I would like to see a girls bible or devotional that goes beyond the "princess" theme as the princess theme is too limiting and may alienate other young girls with other interests. As a blogger for Tyndale I received this book published by Tyndale Kids for the purpose of writing this review.
