Strung me along until the end.

The book is 656 pages of mystery and although at times I was confused and annoyed I kept reading because I wanted to know what was happening. The entire time I was reading it, in my head I was trying to figure out "who done it" and the author did a good job of keeping (for a while at least) me confused. I would say this was a good book but the ending made me mad. Being that I love romance novels I wanted the ending to be different but this wasn't a romance so I didn't get the typical ending.

    AMAZING

I read this whole book in a day and a half. It was interesting. Throughout the whole book. I found myself trying to figure out the mystery when I wasn't even reading the book. I really want there to be a sequel. :)

Great Book -- Hated to put it down!

For those who love a mystery, you will really love this book. It kept me guessing from the beginning. Just as I think I have it figured out, the plot takes a twist and I am guessing again. The main charachters are people you can picture in your mind as you are reading. You will sympathize with Emma and everything she has gone through, and coming from a dysfunctional family myself makes it seem real. I will definitely read other books by Paul Pilkington again.

    Enough twists & turns

.....to keep a soap opera enthusiast interested. I wasnt sure id like it not really romance genre as title hinted but it held its own. IMHO the characters lacked depth but too much insight into them wouldve spoiled the "whodoneit" factor. At first i was annoyed with the Brit terminology but it wasnt overly done i learned some new slang from across the pond. It was an easy read and nice break from my standard genre choices. I may pick up another of this authors books if not too $$$.

    Confusing

There are so many characters & possible suspects that it's hard to follow. I almost dumped this numerous times but I was so far into it I wanted to find out who the bad guy was. Lousy ending, sort of. Hooks you into buying the next book.

With so many other free books out there, skip this one.

    Not great

Shallow character developmment- Author tried to build suspence but this reader was more annoyed than intrigued. On a positive note, it ended well.

    I could not get interested

756 pages. Almost 735 pages of nook book reading, for free! Wow, I could hardly wait. It had really nice reviews. I made a cup of tea, grabbed a few cookies, wrapped myself up in a blanket and put my feet up. A dog on my lap, rain on the roof, the house to myself and I started to read.....and I was so disappointed. I plugged away for 135 pages before I gave up. I choose another book. After I finished it, it was very good by the way. I tried this one again, I read another 278 pages. I like to finish what I start, so I cheated, I skipped ahead and read the last 15 pages, just so I could tell myself, I had stuck to a resolution I had made to myself as a teen. I am glad so many others enjoyed this book. I tried and tried, but I just plain did not care for it. It was mundane, inane and almost made me go insane with frustration. The ending was even bad. All I can say is give it a try, you may be one of the lucky people finding this a delightful read.

    Confusing!

I forced myself through the first five chapters, but still cannot figure out what's going on, who is supposed to be who, or what the book is supposed to be about. I would not reccomd this unless you have time, or inclination, to sit around and figure it out

Bit predictable but a fun read

I'd figured out most of the story about halfway through but it wasn't a bad story and I'll probably read the next in the series.

The action started from the very beginning with Emma's fiancé, D

The action started from the very beginning with Emma's fiancé, Dan's disappearance: and the near death of Dan's brother, Richard. Every time I thought I knew who dunnit, the author threw in a twist to make me believe it was someone else. As other reviews have stated, character development was slow or non existent.
It was not well written. Dialog was boring and slow. The grammar was horrific, for example: Will was sat on the apartment steps, or Emma was stood at the window. These are just a couple of numerous past tense in place of present tense errors.
Overall I did enjoy reading the book. The story line was a good concept. And any suspense that I have to wait for the final pages before I'm sure who the culprit is, is a winner to me.
