The Original Blues

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Stewart Mason
This low-priced ten-track sampler is a loss-leader introduction to the catalog of Tradition Records, the blues reissue arm of Rykodisc. The Original Blues is of the most use to a relative blues newcomer who knows the basics but wants to explore deeper into prewar acoustic Southern blues, as opposed to the more familiar electric Chicago variation. However, it must be noted that the remastering on these elderly recordings is excellent, far superior to what one finds on cheap reissue labels specializing in public domain materials.
