It raises the basic issues of theology: God is hidden yet revealed; the problem with evil; the nature of salvation; the meaning of faith; prayer; death and what lies beyond. In so doing, it helps to fill the need for modern Orthodox catechism. Yet this book is not a mere manual, a dry-as-dust repository of information. Throughout the book, Bishop Kallistos Ware shows the meaning of Orthodox doctrine for the life of the individual Christian. Doctrinal issues are seen not as abstract propositions for theological debate but as affecting the whole of life. A wealth of texts drawn from theologians and spiritual writers of all ages accompanies Bishop Kallistos' presentation. They, too, reveal Orthodoxy not just as a system of beliefs, practices and customs but indeed as the Way.

    Must Read

Wares book gives you the rudimentrics of Christian Orthodoxy. Three different Chapters (total of 6) explain the Trinity and why its so important. The beginings of each chapter are peppered with sayings of the Fathers of the Church. I wished I'd read this one earlier in My journey to the One true Church (Matthew 16:18-19, Ephesians 4:4-6, 1 Tim 3:15). This is the first book all seekers should read first! and it should be required reading for all catacumins.

    A Great Read!

Highly readable book designed well for those of us with little snatches of time. A really nice way to be introduced to Orthodoxy, consider this book a basic primer on living out a Christian life in Orthodox tradition. With liberal doses of quotes from other works starting and ending each chapter, The Orthodox Way is a also a terrific guide to more great reading. I was renewed and inspired by this book and return to it often for daily encouragement.

Great for beginners or those curious about the faith.

I am recently married to an Orthodox man and taking classes in the faith. This book was very good in giving me a solid overview and a good background to begin from. I found it very interesting.

Excellent for beginner and veteran Christians.

This book came highly recommended to me by many in my church, including a good friend of mine and the priest. I found this book to be very informative, inspiring, and fascinating. The author articulates himself very well, he writes in a manner that someone without any Godly experience will find this book easy to read, and the amount of information is more than enough in comprehensiveness for an elder, or experienced, Orthodox Christian will still enjoy. I highly recommend this book!
