The first thing you should buy when starting out...

New to fly fishing? If so this book should be the first (but not the only) book you buy. Fly fishing CAN be very expensive and involved. This book is written by a VERY trusted source on the sport (ORVIS) and so the information benefits from years of teaching and fishing. I bought this first to figure out what investments to make next (books and gear). For example there are hundreds of knots to learn, this book tells you to learn 2 first and why. Lots of line options, this one again tells you which one to start with...and so on and so on. I'll definitely get another book, but this one saved me the trouble of figuring out HOW in depth it had to be (why buy knot book? or book that has a section on hundreds of flies?).
