The Overlooked Expert: Turning your skills into a profitable business
The 10th anniversary edition of this impactful, relevant book comes just in time. Today, job uncertainty is a reality, just as it was in 2008. Sarah Gerdes has revised and enhanced The Overlooked Expert with even more success stories of individuals who have used their knowledge and know-how to create successful businesses.

When Sarah left the safety of a corporate job to start her own consulting firm, she wasn't an expert or equipped with multiple degrees. She was a twenty-seven year old single mother who turned her knowledge into a profitable business. Within a year, she was featured in Fortune Magazine, Inc. and the Economist, tripling her income to nearly a million dollars by year two.

In The Overlooked Expert, she draws upon two dozen overlooked experts across multiple industries who have used nothing more than their knowledge to get ahead. She also includes her own successes (and failures) throughout the book to give you point-by-point details so you can do it yourself. You will learn how to determine your skills, price and sell your services, create partnerships to increase demand, provide incentives for sub-contractors without creating future competition and learn the best strategies and tips to giving world-class client service for long-term growth.

In the Overlooked Expert, you will also find:
- step-by-step lists for generating awareness and demand for your services, such as pitching the local media, holding events and using social media to spread the word
- no-cost programs to partner with other service providers who have the same customer demographic
- incentive programs for contracting, hiring and maintaining employees
- trading for services and other incentives
- signing the reluctant customer
- expanding and growing your business while keeping profits high

Don't put off your ability to be your own boss any longer. The time is now. Stop being the one overlooked by your boss or corporation, and turn your skills into a profitable business today.
