I sent my son off to college this year and decided this would be the year I'd get into shape. Or at least, better shape than I'm in now... After doing lots of research on "fad" diets and quick fix plans, a friend of mine introduced me to the paleo diet. There are a lot of books out there, and various testimonials, but I'm going to make this real simple. This book cuts right to the meat (pun intended) of the paleo diet. I don't need filler, or pretty pictures, or overly complex ideas about what I have to do to succeed with this diet. I just need it broken down, and explained in a manner that's easy to comprehend. That's exactly what i found in this book. I'm leaner, have already dropped 15 pounds, and I'm more energetic than I have been in years!

I've just recently acquired another book by this author (from the same 'healthy' type genre) and liked his writing style a lot. Thus, I decided to look into his other stuff. My husband and I have decided to try to eat healthier and live a more fit lifestyle. He's 38 and I'm 40 and we are at the point where we know it is really important to find something we can stick with. The title intrigued me because I do think that our modern tech/ways have made it more difficult to be healthy. I think if we can get back to a more natural way of eating, it has to be better for us. Like I said before, I really like this author's style. He takes an instructional approach so I feel like I'm learning a lot while reading and he does it in a way that is easy to read/not over 'layman's head'. My favorite parts in the book are the "did you know" sections and the recipes. The 'did you know' sections offer little statistical quips and it makes it really interesting. While the recipes make the Paleo diet seem practical and doable. Nothing is too hard, you know.I haven't done this long enough to say that I'm losing weight, but I've enjoyed some of the recipes already and I feel like I am "more awake", not sluggish. Lost pounds will come, I've no doubt.

I have attempted so many diets since i could remember, from crash diets to craze diets to yoyo diets and they never keep the weight off after i loose it. The Paleo Diet is an easy and effective weight to loose weight and keep it off after loosing it. There wasn't much change in my diet when it came to calorie counting or the size of the meals, for example they are not tiny meals by any means! It is the easiest and most effective diet i have found and would recommend to anyone of any age to try this out if they have struggled with weight in their life.

Fat, frumpy and fickle. I don't stick to anything for much longer than a month and when I hit that plateau - Game Over - back to pizza pie and donuts for lunch! Now this Paleo Diet's been 3 months of steady fat loss, muscle gain and the bonus - a happy, healthy...and dare I say it...ACTIVE lifestyle. ROCK ON Paleo Diet Solution - I think I've found my true love!

It's really a relief that someone finally came up with a way to follow the Paleo diet in the modern world. Unlike other versions of the Paleo diet that insist on exotic meats and complex recipes, Chatham's Paleo Diet Solution uses foods that you can find at any grocery store and has easy recipes in the back, as well as advice for eating at restaurants.

I have to start by saying - I'm lazy. I just am. And at the age of 40, I haven't been that happy with the 30 or so extra pounds I've put on, and the way I look sure isn't helping me meet women, but I'm just not interested in going to the gym or eating like a rabbit. I'd like to look better, but I'd lived with being the way I am, and it wasn't worth that much effort to change it. My sister got me this book for Christmas, and although I wasn't too happy about her pointing out that I needed to diet, I'm actually glad that she did. I had heard of the Caveman Diet, and the Paleo Diet is exactly the same thing. You can't drink beer, which I hate, but otherwise the diet is easy. You get to eat more or less as much as you want as long as you avoid certain foods, which hasn't really been much of a problem. The real news? I've already lost 7 pounds! That may not seem like a big deal, but for a guy who has been getting larger every month for the last few years, it's pretty amazing. I highly recommend this book.

Chatham’s book is an excellent source for someone who wants to understand more about the Paleo diet and lifestyle. His simple approach benefitted me greatly and helped to nudge me into making my own dietary changes. I had previously bought another one of his books, Paleo Bread: Gluten Free Bread Recipes for a Paleo Diet, and decided I wanted to take another step further. The Caveman’s Oven Fried Fish and the Almond Cookies are amazing!  Can’t stop myself from making these amazing paleo-friendly treats!

Paleo Diet of the past can help weight loss in the present! Paleo Diet Solution aims to replicate the eating habits of our ancestors during the Paleolithic era. This includes consuming large quantities of animal fats and proteins but only small portions of carbohydrates. The Paleo diet has been shown to lower blood sugar levels, decrease the risk of diabetes and promote weight loss. I was surprised by the variety of foods allowed on the diet and the recipes in the back look incredibly simple and easy to make. I cannot wait to begin this diet!

Everyone knows that grandma knows best, and The Paleo Diet Solution reinforces this fact with a life plan to change your eating habits and become far healthier in the process. John Chatham guides you through the basics: what to eat, when to eat, how to change your buying habits. The book is extremely detailed and informative. Every question that popped into my mind as I read was answered almost on the next page. I love the idea of only eating things that are fresh, home grown, not processed. And, there are plenty of places to purchase those items. The Paleo Diet is especially helpful for those suffering from Celiac disease and those that are lactose intolerant. Chatham even details replacement foods (if you miss your ice cream) and how to work out and stick to the diet. There are even recipes. My favorite one so far has been the Nutty Spinach Quiche. Yum! It’s a great resource, and I recommend reading it and trying out the diet as it definitely is a great alternative to some of the other diets out there!

Chatham realizes that this diet means a new lifestyle for many readers and he is sympathetic; there are tips on how to adjust, a comprehensive cookbook, and even a guide to grocery shopping. Another great diet plan from author John Chatham, layed-out simply and effectively in “The Paleo Diet”. The Paleo Diet (or Paleolithic diet) is an eating plan designed to get its participants back to the simplistic nourishment that one might have practiced in ancient, pre-agricultural times. Chatham explains that by eliminating the processed and refined foods that we as a society have come to rely on for our sustenance in modern times, our bodies can be leaner, we can have more energy, and ultimately our weight will go down and our health with increase. The book helps illustrate how such a diet would benefit not only the average individual, but also those suffering with allergies, athletes with dietary requirements specific to increasing and maintaining energy, and those looking to lose some pounds and live a healthier, less processed lifestyle. A great book all around if you’re looking to simplify your eating habits and take control of exactly what you’re putting into your body. A must-read!

This book is now an essential reference for my library. “Paleo” (Paleolithic) refers to how people ate during the stone age (pre-agriculture) – nothing processed, no sugar, dairy, beans (legumes) or grains. The premise is that foods hunted, caught or foraged are much healthier. Eliminating foods we’re not genetically adapted to eating greatly reduces many diseases, disorders and health issues like headaches, allergies, lactose intolerance, Celiac Disease, arthritis, fibromyalgia, MS, stress, depression and more. I was diagnosed as having cellular inflammation, which the author explains is from an overactive immune system caused by eating foods that humans have not adapted to. With the shopping guide, food list (also foods to avoid), great recipes, how to balance carbs-fats-protein and guidelines for transitioning into the Paleo, I anticipate losing weight (and belly fat!).

The Paleo Diet Solution by John Chatham explains how to eat only foods that could have been grown, gathered, hunted or fished in pre-historic time, in the Paleolithic Era, which is where the diet’s name comes from. Basically, no alcohol, sugar or processed foods. The idea is that many diseases can be avoided by eating like prehistoric people did, and Chatham includes some research to support this finding. I learned that the Paleo diet can help your heart health and improve digestive function. And, of course, you lose weight doing it, because it is mainly a high-protein/low-carb diet; it’s also full of Omega-3 fatty acids, which are not only healthy, but help keep body fat off. The diet is gluten-free, so a wide variety of people can try it out. I had heard of the Paleo diet before, but never knew much about it. This book taught me everything I needed to know. There are different variations of the Paleo diet, and I found that “The Middle Ground” works for me, which is a more modern approach to the diet. Chatham’s book helped me plan my weekly meals and showed me which foods to avoid (dairy, legumes, high-fat meat). The first few days were tough, but I’m already starting to see results!

It seems like every day there is yet another “expert” who claims they have found the solution to the obesity and health epidemic we are facing in this country. So many fad diets have come and gone, and for those of us who seek to live as healthfully as possible it can be difficult at times to sift through the plethora of literature out there. The Paleo diet is revolutionary in the sense that it appears to be very effective at helping adherents increase energy, improve health and lose weight. Yet, it is actually a return to days past. In the Paleo Diet Solution the author clearly states why, how and what we need to do in order to gain ultimate health. He presents the history of the diet, the theories behind it, the doctors who endorsed it and the reasons why Americans can and should adhere to it. Those who believe in the diet feel that humans should only eat what our ancestors were naturally meant to eat such as lean, organic animal meats, nuts, eggs, fish, vegetables and fruit. Makes sense right? The author reports on the studies that have shown that removal of certain foods from the diet can clear up an assortment of digestive issues. As someone who suffers from digestive issues such as heartburn and stomach cramping, a diet that resolves this definitely appeals to me. The book is expertly organized, and presents the steps to following the Paleo diet in a simple, easy to follow manner. The author devotes an entire section to describing what to eat, and what to avoid. Recipes are included and many of them look delicious. He even touches on the subject of how to deal with others reaction to your new lifestyle and gives tips on dining out. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in becoming healthier and losing weight in the process.

The Paleo Diet Solution by John Chatham is a step by step lifestyle change which follows in the footsteps of our ancestors, the caveman. Chatham stresses the health benefits of this particular diet before delving into the weight loss perks, explaining that while losing weight is an important factor a healthy body is best way to change your life for the better and enable you stick to the plan. The book also explains the different types of Paleo Diets that are on the market and helps the reader navigate to the best fitting Paleo Diet. Chatham is also direct and upfront about the beginning stages of the diet and difficulty you can face, when other diets are not as honest, this one wants you to succeed. The best part of this book is that although this is a diet focusing on organic meats and produce, it comes with a food shopping budget so people of all economic backgrounds can enjoy this diet plan. There is also an A to Z food list to follow and a cookbook to complete your successful journey into the Paleo Diet. This diet book, and the accompanying cookbook I plan to purchase for even more recipes, make it easy to follow and to stick with it.

John Chatham, author of The Paleo Diet Solution, organizes this book in logically laid out sections, introducing anyone wanting to try this way of life an excellent guide for proceeding with it. He explains what the diet is, how to follow it, and health facts about it. Chatham includes facts and studies related to The Paleo Diet Solution from researchers at prestigious universities such as Sweden’s Lund University and the results of the studies. The Paleo Diet Solution is based on the way Paleolithic man ate when high protein provided them with energy to run great distances when hunting or escaping danger. The book tells specifically which foods may be eaten and which may not because of nutritional content and effect on the body. This diet alleviates symptoms of conditions, such as fibromyalgia, improves cardiovascular health, and lower cholesterol, plus many others. It is because of the balance of high Omega-3 fatty acid meat and fish and plant carbohydrates, plus small amounts of condiments, nut flours, nut butters, and olive oil. For people who are accustomed to Western (or other) diets high in refined carbohydrates, refined sugars, and white flour and white produce, in addition to highly processed food, this lifestyle is an extreme change. According to a study at Sweden’s Lund University, men who were either diabetic or pre-diabetic were put on either the Paleo diet or a Western Diet. Unsurprisingly, men following the Paleo diet for three months reduced their glucose tolerance by 26% compared to a reduction of 7% for those on a Western diet. Not only does the Paleo diet improve many medical conditions, it also improves sports and exercise performance. The endurance of extreme athletes increased after being on the Paleo diet. However, it also helps people who do exercise using cardio and weights. Chatham lays out transitional stages for people who are either be sedentary or do work out on a regular basis. As if all these benefits weren’t enough, John Chatham’s version of The Paleo Diet Solution, since there are several, helps those who eat this way to lose weight. As with any change of diet or lifestyle, Chatham recommends consulting a doctor, but the book also includes some delicious recipes. I tried the Kale Chips and they were delicious.
