Clarifies Tillich's concepts of paradox and breakthrough as they illustrate the divine-human interplay of revelation in ontological- metaphorical language. Argues that the two concepts become related in meaning through their particular usage in Tillich, by demonstrating that each breakthrough occurs as a paradoxical event and that each paradox, in order to impress itself upon those who are to be reached by it, needs to break through to its recipient<-->the receiver and interpreter of revelation.
