I highly recommend this parent to parent practical guide. First, because it is focused on one specific age group--that of toddlers--a very interesting, fun, but often challenging age span. I find that much of the advice in an A-Z (tot-teen) compendium is often not relative nor specific enough in addressing my particular concerns with my toddler. For example, the lies and bad words of my 3 year old are far different than the lies and foul language of a 15 year old. I think it's quite difficult for one book to offer ample suggestions on each topic that covers a 16 year age spectrum. Secondly, I appreciate the humor and comraderie of the anecdotes of other parents. I feel better knowing that I am not the only guilt-ridden parent that ocasssionally has a really tough day. The tips are doable and sensible. I like the easy access layout of the book as well as the cheerful two color text on every page. Another book I also highly recommend is an A-Z compendium for the pre-school years (2-5) called THE POCKET PARENT. It also has a pleasant two color text layout and is chock full of hundreds of fast answers to many common worrisome behaviors such as the gimmes, morning crazies, biting, bedtime, lying, separation anxiety, whining, etc. Both books are practical and specific in helping parents choose strategies that often get more compliance rather than defiance from their kids.
