This book is beyond hysterical. Jenna tells it like it is, and her readers benefit from not only her sense of humor but her wonderful writing style. For people about to embark on the amazing journey of parenthood, this book will give you a glimpse of what is to come. For those of us that are already parents, you will be in stitches as you relive all of those painfully funny moments. Enjoy!

I picked this up after listening to my wife laugh out loud to every chapter. I was ready for a "chick-book" sentimentality but was I ever wrong! The brutal honesty combined with intelligent humor make this a must read for parents of any age children. I too was laughing out loud. Jenna covers all the emotions as she takes us on a personal journey that is somehow universal to us all. Truly wonderful for the husband as well!

I absolutely love this book! I've never had a book make me laugh so much! It's so honest and dead on. I'm pregnant with my second child so I can relate to everything she writes about. Best of all, this author tells you what the other pregnancy and baby books don't and better yet, it's all from personal experience. Definetely a must read for pregnant and new mom's.

I'll be honest. I was kind of tapped out on the plethora of parenting books out there however, when I stumbled across Jenna McCarthy's website and read excerpts from her book, The Parent Trip, I was doubling over in laughter. Something different, something frank, funny, and full of straight talk regarding the sometimes bumpy, but funny, road to parenting! I read each hilarious passage, literally howling with laughter and saying 'oh yeah, oh yeah!' And, I could totally relate to her ambivalence toward children, especially when she was younger. Not only is the book a laugh out loud riot, it offers invaluable information. For instance, I had no idea that it's not uncommon for many nursing mothers to have a 'under' and 'over' achiever. She also offers advice on selecting a sitter and what and what does not warrant a doctor visit. Most importantly, she knows what every parent knows deep down inside, sometimes the 'experts' are full of it! This author literally takes us on a journey--and this is where the book is like a parenting memoir--from her early days as a youth when the seeds of 'doubt' toward parenting were planted, to her first date with her future husband, who, coincidentally, is one of those guys who just love children, up until selecting a pre-school for her child. You walk away from this book feeling like your nicest, funniest, best 'mom' friend has just shared with you every little important morsel regarding parenting, and then some.

I simply loved this book. It was recently recommended to me by a friend from Denver with a pair of precious children. He said he learned a few things by reading it, so I took the dip. Well, I thought I knew everything there was about raising children, being a supposedly, seasoned veteran with two boys, ages 4 & 7. My pride has been hurt. . . . Buy this easy to read book. It'll bring a smile to your face.

Sorry, I just didn't care for it.  Kind of braggy, I guess I just don't care for this particular author's voice and style.  She sounds like one of those mean moms
