It's a good start for beginners

The text is a good start for beginners to the Internet. The overall theme of parental involvement in a child¿s Internet usage is very positive. The book also gives a reasonably accurate accounting of some of the dangers on the Net. However, there is a lot of parental idealism in the book which may not work in an imperfect world. The book neglects to bring across some very serious points, for example, that online predators and their techniques are becoming more and more sophisticated. Also, I would have liked to seen some of the text dedicated to minor technical aspects, like explaining how to check the cache of web browsers. Overall, it is a good book for beginners, but in order to have a full understanding of the dangers on the Internet, supplemental readings are a necessity.

She's featured in the April Readers Digest. Wow!

I just got my Readers Digest in the mail, and saw an article written about this author and the work she does to keep adults safe too. I was so impressed I had to buy her new book. I read it in a few hours. I thought I was impressed before. After I read the book, I knew that we have someone looking after our kids online that knows what she's doing, and knows what she's talking about. After hearing some of the other so-called experts, and skimming some of their guides, I'm surprised this isn't a number 1 bestseller. It probably will be once everyone reads the Readers Digest article.

The best! Fun, easy and explains everything!

I loved it, and found it very helpful. Anytime I had a question, it was answered in this book. I never knew this could be so easy. She's funny and I couldn't believe how much she knows about what kids do online. I bought two, one for me and one for my son's teacher. I couldn't believe the price, and the book supports kids internet programs she runs. Doing good for my family and other kids at the same time. Pretty hard to beat that, or this book. The Best! And I mean it! It's written for us.

Parent's Guide to Protecting Your Children in Cyberspace

I bought this book when my son's teacher suggested that all parents buy it. I worried that it might be another techy book, or someone preaching about how awful the web is for kids. I read it in a few hours, cover to cover. It's funny, interesting (especially when she tells stories that kids have shared with her), and gave me answers to questions I've had ever since my son got online last year. I went back and bought a couple for my buddies at work. I couldn't believe the price. I heard that Parry made a special deal with her publisher to price the book low enough for most parents to be able to afford. I'm going to donate some money to the groups she runs. I'm a fan, now.

Parent's Guide to Protecting Your Children in Cyberspace

Thank you for writing this marvelous book. I loved it, and didn't even realize how much I needed it. I now know which filtering product to use with my ten year old, and what chatrooms are safe for my fifteen year old. I'm so sorry I missed you on the Today Show two weeks ago. My friends called me and told me how great this book was, and I ran out and bought it. I was so relieved to have answers to things that only scared me before. I know with your book at our side my family can surf safely. Parents power!

Parent's Guide to Protecting Your Children in Cyberspace

Parry Aftab works with the FBI and others to stop cybercrimes. She not only teaches us how to keep our kids safe, she even gives us some great tips on keeping ourselves safe too. I was afraid it would be a boring techy book, but I laughed outloud when she told her stories. She's made it easy enough even I can understand.

Parent's Guide to Protecting Your Children in Cyberspace

I no longer worry about what my kids do online. Instead I pull out this book and stay one step ahead of them. Parry demystifies the Internet risks, in a way even I can understand. I don't fear anything happening that I can't handle, with the help of this book I'm prepared. I loved it, and bought three for my friends and parents of my daughter's friends, so they can make sure their kids surf safely too. I never thought reading about the Internet could be so much fun. Heck, I even learned how to shop more safely at online auctions. There's nothing this woman doesn't know about the Internet. I love it.

Thank Goodness!!! Finally the help I needed!

I'm a typical mother. I thought I understood the risks online, but when my daughter started getting threats from someone she met online...I didn't know where to turn. Then I heard Parry on television and ran out to buy this book. It helped me more than I could have imagined, and it's so easy to read. Now, I know enough to keep my children safe when they use the Internet. Parry...Thanks for being there when I needed you.

A Book Educators and Parents Should Not Miss!

This book was amazing. I am a 5th grade teacher in a school that just went online. I was very nervous about the new frontier known as 'Cyber-space.' Parry's book is a great guide for parents and educators who are taking on the responsibility of surfing the internet with children. I feel much more comfortable and informed after reading parry's Guide! Every parent and educator should take the time to read this book. It will truly help you understand what is really out there on the World Wide Web! Thank-you Parry for realizing that there was a need for a guide like this. It is time we all take responsibility for what our children are being exposed to. Parry has made it that much easier!
